Yeah I heard this good news on the radio driving home last night from work.

The battle has been thought a few time down here already... first was legal... then Sony appealed and won making it illegal again.  Glad to see its now legal again.

Mind you this ruling by no means permits or encourages the use of using illegal obtained copied game to be play on the modded console.  Its simply to be used as a means for individuals to import a game and not be restricted by region coding on the console blocking your ability to play the title.

God bless the ACCC... our consumer affairs body that help fight this battle!  8)

We are lucky politically, sure.  Thankfully our courts and governments still believe in a person's basic rights to digital freedom, and that big business shouldn't rule such things simply because they have more money to throw at fat lawyers than the public does.

Economically, we aren't so lucky.  We're still paying 30-100% more for software technology than anyone else in the world.  In a market with fixed prices and no competition, we are at the mercy of the big distributors.

So now we have an environment where artificially inflated prices are too high, and mod chips are legal.  An interesting mix.  I hope the end result is US-style pricing of games.  If that's the case, I might actually consider buying a modern console.  The last console I purchased was a second-hand DreamCast, and even that was 4X the price that they are available in the US.  I'll be stuffed if I'm going to pay $400 for a PSP, or $250 for a PS2.

It sucks being in such a small economic market where we only get a small % of dvd and game titles released elsewhere.  Region coding of games and dvd is a huge driver for a lot of modders.  Sucked in Sony

I just purchased Psychonaughts for my Xbox in spite of the fact that I have about 60 pirated games on it already and could have just gone down to my local Hollywood Video, rented it and ripped it.  I just couldn't justify ripping off the guy who has given me Grim Fandango, Day of the Tenticle, Full Throttle, Sam and Max and Monkey Island.  He left LucasArts and made his own company and has struggled to get his first solo project finished, and it has met with universal critical acclaim.  Actually, I don't expect to get to play it until December when this hellish semester is over at school and I'll be stuck at home after a tonsilectomy, but I wanted to buy it now because I'm sure that it will have undergone a significant price drop by then and I really wanted to pay full-price for it.  Weird, my selective ethics.

Despite all the accolades (it's number 14 on Gamespy's list of the 25 Greatest Xbox Games) it hasn't been very successful commercially.  Sad.

I've never heard of this game, but I love all of those Lucas Arts games that you listed. I'm going to have to keep my eyes open for that one. Thanks for the heads up.

Despite modding every console I've ever owned (I even have a Super Wildcard DX cart dumper for my SNES!) I will *ALWAYS* without fail pay for quality games.  I believe very strongly in rewarding hard working artists for quality software titles.   And of note, all the titles I've paid for are the only ones that get repeat play time on my consoles.  Everything else I treat as "trialware", as honestly it really is that 100% of the time.  (Download, burn, play, get disgusted, throw in bin).

It just so happens that in today's market roughly 1% of all titles deserve money.  Sad fact.  Places like EA et al punch out all sorts of rubbish with annual sequels and expect me to part with my hard earned dollars for it.  No thanks.  Give me quality over quantity, which the modern market is sorely lacking.

Anyone have any links / screenshots??  I can't find hardly anything about this game.
