Title: XP 640x480
Post by: Surgeville on January 15, 2003, 04:53:58 pm
Hello all,
Does any know if there is a way to run Windows XP in 640x480 resolution?
Any program or setting I can use that will give this ability?
I know you can run individual programs in 640x480, but I would like to run the whole operating system at this resolution.

Thanks in advance,
Surge

Actually snaake is right... there is no minimum to xp's settings.  I've had it as low as 320*240 for testing purposes.  Of course laughing in someone's face about a very minor error is extremely inappropriate.

Because you can't "type" emotion.  You can try, but it always get mis-intrepreted.  What seems good natured from your perspective might seem hurtful from another.  At least that's what I got out of it, but your mileage may vary.

But don't feel bad... everybody thinks I'm an ---uvula--- just because I don't use bs words like "opinion" or "maybe." :)

I was wrong, I based my information on Microsofts posted specifications. They are the same for the home edition.

Quoted from http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/home/evaluation/sysreqs.asp (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/home/evaluation/sysreqs.asp)

Here's What You Need to Use Windows XP Professional
PC with 300 megahertz or higher processor clock speed recommended; 233 MHz minimum required (single or dual processor system);* Intel Pentium/Celeron family, or AMD K6/Athlon/Duron family, or compatible processor recommended
128 megabytes (MB) of RAM or higher recommended (64 MB minimum supported; may limit performance and some features)
1.5 gigabytes (GB) of available hard disk space*
Super VGA (800

It is too bad that Microsoft doesn't know what it is talking about but then again do they ever? ;)

Everyone got their tablet PC yet?

Would anyone even try running Windows XP on their suggested minimum?

Nice to see Howard and Snaaake agreeing on something.  This may be a milestone. ;D

Well m$ has a way of dumbing things down to the general public.  As silver said what they are really trying to say is xp itself becomes almost unreadable at low reolutions due to the new skins.  And in general m$ documentation is confusing and useless.  :)  See I can say bad things about m$ too.
