also, i only see green boards , which i found out now isnt such a good thing..
Why is this considered not such a good thing?

Yep, happs high lip.

ALso , on happ website, it doesn't show a USB highlip trackball, anoyone else know anything?
I guess I do ... there is a spacer that might help you out ... see pic below.
I also have a pair of unused red boards that I pulled when changing a regular Happs ball to USB ... see pic below.
Free if you want 'em.
Cheers.

they also sent that spacer, i dunno what it is good for,
but you made me more confused than ever,
so these red boards aren't for USB trackballs?, I'm real new to this stuff.
I'm 80% done with cab, but this is the first actual arcade thingumabob(note: actually in spellcheck, i had thingyumbob) that I have in my possession.
anymore clues to this riddle would be super helpful

The spacer goes on the top of the trackball to reduce the lip (you'll have to take the mounting plate off first).
To convert a Happ ball to PS2/USB using their kit, you need to replace the optic boards. I don't know if they have red board for their PS2/USB kits (mine came with green boards)..
Cheers

To further clarify to what the spacer does.

Hi CheffoJeffo,
If Ldsfunaz doesn't claim/need the red boards after all, I need a pair to replace what appear to be defective (20+ year old) Atari optical boards (I have a 3" Atari TB, same design as Happ but super old boards.) Would you consider selling them to me?
BTW, I am the guy with the Solitaire Challenge cab up in Barrie that you helped out several months ago.
-
Sorry specfire -- I have already promised them to somebody else in case ldsfunaz doesn't want them. If for some reason, neither want them, then they're yours gratis.
I noticed that you are actively looking for another cab (a Dynamo, I believe) ... how did that Solitaire Challenge work out ?
Cheers.

thanks alot Jeffo, but i guess I have no need for the red boards since i want to keep it USB, thank you so much for offering though.
thanks alot for all your guys help, i think this is a case closed situation...
Im just trying to figure out what the ebay seller did,
bought a whole bunch of 3 inch high lip trackballs, bought a whole bunch of USB conversions, and then switched them out??

The Solitaire Challenge cab is my first cab, but it looks like it is going to end up as a gift to my brother in law. I can't count how many favours I owe him and he thinks the whole home arcade thing is really cool. He has no idea about electrical wiring or about computers though, so the only way for him to get set up is for me to do it for him. In a way I am really glad because I now have something that I can do for him that he otherwise can't do for himself.
Now that I have been examining cabs for a while, I think that a generic Dynamo with a metal panel ( I am fixated on metal ) would be the way to go both for the overall look of the cab and thelayout is very MAME friendly. I was briefly interested in an Old Williams cab a while back but I was delusional about how much shipping would cost. Besides, for a MAME project, I think a Dynamo cab would be better than an old Williams (there is something about the nostalgia of owning a true classic cab though)

Apologies to Ldsfunaz for the threadjack, but since the matter is closed ...
Those Dynamos are nice cabinets and I love working with metal CPs.
By odd coincidence, I've been looking for an old Williams cabinet(s) as I am now hankering for Joust, Defender and Robotron. I heard that Clay has MultiWilliams kits back in stock, so maybe one machine to play them all ...
There was one at the last Starburst auction that had been converted to a Street Fighter (oh, the injustice!) and I totally missed it ... went for $100 working. Oh well ... if I had bought that, then I wouldn't have been able to get my Asteroids, so there is some justice in the world.
Peter (SKYHOPPER) is going to e-mail me photos of his cabs and I will post them for him ... unless he has an old Williams cab, in which case I will not be posting that one ... ;D
Sorry again for the threadjack ...
Cheers.
