The last update I did on my MAME Cab was from .67 to .89, and I just put .89 on there about 2 weeks ago.
I noticed a bunch of new games....Sega Polygonal games and some others...a bunch of Namco fighters......and all of them are basically unplayable.
I was just curious, since there are so many new games to "wade" through.....are they all mostly just not worth it? Are there any PLAYABLE standouts from the last 20 revisions or so??
Something I really sould check out? Or are most of the recent additions just "to preserve the hardware" and not really playable in any sense of the word.
My mame RIG is an Athlon Xp 1700....so 1.4Ghz or so....ran everything up to like Cruisn USA and stuff fine.......
Thx.

This was covered on the "main" board a few days ago

That was my thread... so far I've only decided to put the Golden Tee games in my .100 set. I'm going to try Tiger-Heli's idea when I get a few extra minutes

I'm still going through my list as well, but some things to note:
MAME got rid of the "TESTDRIVER" designation, which is why you see a lot of non-working games . . .
OTOH, MAMEdev is pretty inaccurate, as one of the nice features of EmuLoader is the "Preview in MAWS" view. I am finding a lot of non-working games where MAWS - based on History.dat shows 0.99u7 - Fixed remaining errors, game now playable - but MAME 0.100 still outputs the games as non-working.
BTW, there have been some gems added - G-LOC, Blitz, CalSpeed, SFrush, but I don't know (yet) how playable some of them are on current hardware. . .

Awesome post/link - The cat is adorable (j/k). That whole write-up by Haze on the current state of MAME was a worthwhile read and pretty spot-on.

Yeah I just found it today. I read the guys 'commentary' a few weeks ago and wondered if any MAMEdev had a retort of any kind.
Haze points out some interesting stuff...the Nightmare proto I hadn't seen before, and I didn't even realise Power Drift is now playable - that's one I'd been looking forward to so must try that tonight...

Ah, thanks...I see it now. I did some reading up and realized that alot of these games are only working in the sense that they might boot up to a BIOS screen.
I played a few minutes of Rival Schools last night, in super slow mo because my PC isn't up to the task, and remembered there is a super accurate version that runs on that old PSX emulator so..whatever.
That BLOG was a good read, I especially like the list of "really good games to try" that he provided for each release, I'll have to check those out....of course my last update is V.89, I think I'll stick with that for now unless major fixes happened with V1.0

I got my list down to 400 or so now. I picked out any game that I was interested in by name alone, but a lot aren't working like you said.
Seems like no 3d fighters are working well (at least on my system), so they're out. I'll have to try Zinc for those I guess... or whatever other emu was good for them.
I've found a few good ones though, I'll post my list when I'm done even though it'll mostly be personal opinion. I'm going to try to test out any games I haven't played personally.... I have a lot of free time at work lol
And thanks again for the EmuLoader idea Tiger-Heli.. it worked really well.
