Alas, I may be the only freakin person who updates this site for Massachusetts.  There is very little listed.

Has to be one of the greatest collections anywhere.  Dedicated I, Robot and Major Havoc?  Right there, 5 figures.

Where is Lake Geneva?  I have to whip out a map....

I think I am going ot have to take a trip to Appleton and see if the Laundry place actually has a Crystal Castles.

Since Good Time (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~locations/PlaceSearch.php3?code=masomgoo) (Somerville, MA) is mentioned on the list, I thought I'd take a trip down the street during lunch to see what I could see. That place is a lot bigger than I was expecting, but their collection of classic games was very slim. I spotted the Asteroids and thought I'd squeeze in a game or two, but the coin mechs aren't working!  :'(
I couldn't find the Missile Command or Mr.Do! either.  :(

Dude, you should have asked first... I could have saved you that trip.  Their arcade is not all that good.  Big, yes, but full of crap that doesn't work very well.

And don't go there after dark.

That's quite a drive from Salem!

Many of the local arcade guys will do that.  Some are good guys.  Others are total psychos.  I've learned the hard way which are psychos a couple of times.

Yeah, with the fog this morning it took me 1hour 15mins to get to work today. I don't want to think about how long it's going to take me when the snow arrives.  :o

One time, I was way out in Western MA picking up a game from a guy I'd already dealt with in the past.

You're painting a picture of you down a pit in some wacko's basement arcade in some sort of 'it puts the lotion on its skin' scenario.

You're not too far off, unfortunately.  You know how it is common knowledge that it is risky to invite a random net stranger to your home?  Well, it's probably more risky to go to the home of a random net stranger.

Eh, nothing specific... just accepted a couple of invitations to other collector's homes... when you get there, rather than the "5 or 6 guys" you were told were going to be there, you're all alone with the guy... then, after a couple of awkward hours, every time you try to head to the door he has some way to pull you back in that you can't decline without being rude... then, over the upcoming days, you continue to get tons of emails from the guy... who gets all touchy when you're not immediately responsive... and then eventually turns on you, sending you several nasty emails about "who you really are", based on very little actual knowledge...

Chad: Well I better get going now.
WeirdArcadeGuy: Wait! You haven't played Boong-Ga Boong-Ga yet.
Chad: Oh, I didn't know you had that game.
WeirdArcadeGuy: I don't.

Is this the guy with the sweet Rocky pin?  He was a total creep in the email exchange I had with him.

But you said you'd call. I waited by the phone all night. :(

Heh.  He kept trying to sell me a 60s EM pin and I kept explaining that I wasn't interested in paying a reasonable price for an era of pin I wasn't actively into.  If I find a bargain EM, then that's one thing, but I knew this guy wasn't going to get the game's worth from me.  He freaked out that I was a cheap buyer and was trying to rip him off.  I had no idea that telling someone they shouldn't sell to me because they could make more elsewhere was a cheap tactic.  Always learning.

When I was there, he was VERY anxious to make a friend and seemed very lonely.  It was a bit unnerving.

Poor social skills will have that result, though.

Well, there ARE decent local arcade people.  ClubNinja and I are local to each other.  Peale is not THAT far away.  There is another well known BYOAC member that lives near us but it's not my place to reveal his location.  Ed O'Neill lives around here, as does Mr C.

I've met a couple good folks from RGVAC, too.

It just seems that the most psycho of the psychos are the ones I encounter most often.

I've actually met several people who I know from online. Haven't met a nutcase yet. I guess I'm due for one.

I've made some solid friends, but I've dealt with some real restraining order quality psychos too.  It's a mixed bag.

At the first New England BYOAC meet everyone was expecting everyone else to be complete nerds, luckily everone turned out to be cool- almost 'normal' even!

When I was picking up the cabs pictured, my friend informed me - on the drive- that our pickup location was in Da'Hood, in East StLouis.  Nice.  The guy had about 40 empty cabs in his garage.  While loading them up, some crackhead wandered by and asked if he could mow this guys lawn.  We loaded up and headed out.  I got each cab on ebay for $20 each - location was only about 80 miles away so no shipping fees.

I was about to comment that your definition of the hood and mine are quite different.
