Title: Cleaning joysticks
Post by: Bomber on October 03, 2005, 10:21:32 pm
I've just picked up a couple of joysticks and their pretty filthy.

So I was wondering what you good folks use to clean up joysticks?

Can I just pull it apart and put them in soapy water as long as I rinse and dry all the pieces properly before putting it back together? Or should I use some sort of metal cleaner?

Formula 409 or Fantastik work great for plastic bits..

I usually soak stuff like that for a while in warm water with some dish detergent to loosen the grime, then give it a good wiping afterwards with the 409 and some paper towels..

Simple Green works well on plastics too.

I'd add the small caveat to test the material you're using it on first. Straight Simple Green is tough on plastic and rubber. It will dry out and discolor some soft plastics and rubber.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'll see what I can find down at the hardware store.

Stingray - love the footer. Although someone who dresses like that probably deserves to be locked up....
