xbox version is $20...damn it I am stilling 'obtaining' for like a day now ;)
-
are they good ports?
-
Sithmaster. Hydro thunder and San Francisco Rush 2049 are dreamcast ports. Wich is a good thing because they both were improved over the coin op's. by addingg new tracks, features and better graphics. :)

Whoo!! cool just picked up a xbox and modded it just in time!

I found a great list of cheats for this game. Once you unlock every thing in hydro thunder it could keep youu busy for days tring to place # 1 in all the traacks with each boat.

Do the games support force feedback?
-
I'm kinda dissapointed that the version of Rush 2049 on MAT3 is the Dreamcast version... I kinda preferred the arcade original myself... :'(
I'm waiting for Midway Arcade Treasures Deluxe, a PC compilation that includes all the games from MAT 2 and 3 for $20. It should be out in a couple of weeks...

The reviewer on gamespot said most of these games relied too heavily on arcade harware....you know what that means, time to build a racing cabinet! How cool would this be, hack in a real arcade 360 degree wheel, real arcade foot petals, build a cabinet with a modded X BOX running it! I think this could be a future project, as most of my favorite arcade games are in this game, and you could also play newer racing games like outrun 2, need for speeds, and burnout. Someone should build one, maybe a future project for me.

hack in a real arcade 360 degree wheel
I don't know how you would do this for this game. I'm sure it would be possible to interface one like a mouse, but I doubt commercial games support mice/keyboards. In any case the games will be tweaked to use the console's analog sticks.
Have you seen the xbox race cab projects? Try a search, there are a few and look very good... I'm building up to making an xbox driving panel for my cab...

I hear that Hydro Thunder has a very poor framerate on the XBox version, but is nice and smooth on PS2. Also, all the fog effects are missing from the games on PS2 and XBox. Strange that.

What about force feedback? Does anyone know if the racing games support force feedback?
-
You couldnt replace the wheel from an x box wheel with some kind of real arcade wheel? its gotta be able to be done somehow.
-
I couldnt find any examples of xbox racing cabinets....

Yes, it could be done, but you wouldn't want to use a 360 degree wheel for these games. You would want to use a 270 degree wheel.
