hi guys
ive done a load of searching on this board for 2 days now trying to find out how to get rid of the xp shut down screens?? ive found stuff on how to get rid of the boot up xp is loading screens but nothing on how to get rid of the shutdow 1s, so ive had to post this hoping to get some help, please help guys, all help much appreciated.

Try this:
Start Button->Run-> type "gpedit.msc" (without the quotes)
This will bring up a window showing you the group policies.
In the left hand pane you will see the directory structure, navigate your way to the following: Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System
When you select the "system" folder in the left pane you will then see the contents in the right hand pane. Scroll down and you should see the line "Remove Boot / Shutdown / Logon / Logoff status messages.
Select this line and the right-click and choose "properties" Choose "Enabled" hit "Apply" then "OK".
I haven't tried it myself as of this writing, however it sounds like it might be of help. Please be careful in the Group Policies and remember what you change incase of problems down the road.
