Title: My 1st cab project
Post by: Goobzilla on October 01, 2005, 05:12:51 pm
Well,

I'm no woodworker so I found a cab to convert.  Picked up a Roadblasters cab today with a bad board but a pretty good 19" monitor in it.  A little burn in but just had a cap kit installed so it will work for now.  Pics as soon as I remember where I put my digital camera.  Among the things I like about this cab is the fact that it has a front access panel.  Just working on getting the old stickers peeled off and the good Roadblasters parts set aside for anyone doing a restoration.  Haven't really figured out a CP design yet, but I figure I'll get the cab looking all pretty and my computer parts ordered before I have to decide.  Seeing as this is my 1st project, I'll probably keep it simple.  Can always do another one, right?

Spent a lil $$$ on the project today.  Ordered my computer stuff from Newegg and I got my MAME & Daphne DVD's from tiptonware.  Now a quick order to Andy for an I-Pac & ArcadeVGA card and I should have all the pieces/parts I need to get it going.  How exciting is this?

Since this is my 1st cab, I'm not gonna go wild with the CP, probably just 2 T-Stik Plus w/6 buttons each.  I'm already planning my 2nd cab, do you think I've got the fever?

PS I took a few cab shots, but I'm at work right now.  Will get them posted soon.  Stay tuned......

hey....are you from MA?  i sware i saw that same cab on craigslist myself. It was much too bulky and high priced for my liking...i hope you got a better deal than advertised. I didn't look at it in person but it seems that the CP is non exchangeable??? Personally i would have stuck with roadblasters cabinet or gone over to coinopconnection for a cab. At least you can setup the Roadblasters cab as you said...an Atari system 1.
if you are from MA  send me an e-mail  (elgwako2 *at* yahoo.com)
I picked up a roadblasters cab for the same reason(mame) until i picked up an empty cab.
