Okay so this isn't particularly important but .......
While playing a couple of trackball games last night - namely Irritating Maze and Quantum, I wondered what the ACTUAL gameplay of the original arcade machines was like.
For example : I have set the analogue controls to 35% in Irritating Maze as that seems to feel right - but not having seen the original game I have no idea if this is "authentic".
Some might say that you should just set them to whatever feels right but I'm interested in knowing what others have set their analogue settings to (and wether this is based on knowledge of the original or not).
Maybe the make of trackball may have an influence too - I use the Ultimarc trackball. I am aware that Irritating Maze used a giant trackball that could be used with both hands - I just want to know what speed it ran at.
Any other trackball games settings would be useful too......

There was some talk about compiling a list of info for trackball/spinner games, so one could setup MAME accordingly (eg 1 spin of the spinner = 1 rotation in Tempest...I made that up, but you get the idea).
I'm not sure if anything ever came of it tho, I suppose not too many people have original machines to test with.

Min,
Good point but maybe those with originals will be kind enough to post their opinions :) Also, if someone was an expert at Marble Madness back in the 80's they might still have a "feel" for the correct settings in mame.
But maybe make/model and size of trackball will mean that these figures wont be appropriate for other makes/models and sizes.

No maybe about it. Even the same device on the same computer could need different mame settings if the Windows (or other OS) mouse speed or acceleration setting is is changed.
That's why the list Min talked about would have been based on physical movement of the device related to the game's movement, and not the number value of mame's settings.

Good point u_rebelscum (ace name by the way).
I take it that the list never got made then ? I can see why though - too much hard work !

Edit : Just did a search for "trackball settings" and this topic isn't exactly new ...... oops.
Message to self - "Use the search engine.... use the search engine ... use the search engine" :)
