Title: NeatO PowerStrip!
Post by: DaFoo on September 29, 2005, 11:46:43 pm
I ordered one the SmartStrips from Bits Limited, and it is way cool!

I setup my PC mounting the parts to the inside of my cab(looks wow), and rigged up a power switch just for the computer on the upper right side back of CAB (just like the Arcades).

I plugged the computer into the main control switch on the SmartStrip, then put the monitor, speakers, etc.power cords  into the switched plugs.

Now I just hit the button on the bacof the CABk, and everything powers up!.
I push the button and Xp shuts down, and all the control equipment shut offs as well!

Too Cool!

I only had one mishap, I order the power strip with a 12 foot black cord, and I received one with a 6 foot, white cord.  I emailed, them and they offered me a $10 refund (more than the cost of the cord) or they would ship out the right power strip, and send me a pre-paid label to return the wrong one.

That's great customer service!

Also, I first seen this puppy on -> http://www.retroblast.com  A great site!

Anyway as I said I'm as pleased as punch.  ;D  A very cool powerstrip for us Arcade builders!

Another, less technical do-it-yourself powerstrip project can be found here:  http://spystyle.arcadecontrols.com/index81.htm

I used this one for my own cab, and have been quite happy with the results.

Wow, For $33 I'd rather not worry about electrical fires, loose wires, shocked, etc.

And I use to wire houses, you guys are hard core!  :o

Yeah - I was planning on making one like the Slyestyle one, but after pricing the powerstrip, relay, and figuring the time involved, buying a $30 strip was more appealing.
