I noticed in alot of 1990's games as well as new games, the speaker panel area under the marquee is not wood, but just a sheet of hard speaker grill mesh. Does anyone know where you can buy this, as I want to use it on my next project.

UK site, but Maplin has a few different types of grill...hard to tell exactly from the crappy pictures what it's like tho:

If you check the Full Frame MAME project you can see that mesh from a wire bin was used. May be worth checking out.

Try Lowes or Home Depot. Ask for perforated metal and they should have somethingclose to what you want. I have used this stuff on some of my car audio projects. Works fine.

try here http://www.newfoam.com/accessories.asp they do plastic covered speaker mesh just found it now

I found a fairly cheap source of metal mesh. If you goto office max or office depot they have a section for office stuff (pen holders, card holders ect) in those sections they have silver and black mesh garbage cans. You can turn those into grills very easy and save some money doing so.

Put in search word of Perforated Sheets.
Let me know what size you think it is. Maybe post the correct part number?
