Has anyone used one of these coin mechs in their mame cabinet?
http://www.ultimarc.com/controls.html#cabparts
I understand that it will only accept the coin it is told to recognise, and wont add smaller coins up like the Mars in my JAMMA cab, but it seems a cheap quick and easy way to add a mech to a mame cabinet.
Im just after some confirmation that someone has wired one to an i-pac and has it running through mame. Anybody done it?

Didn't use it, but I saw it too and it is interesting, but I don't like the silvery front, just isn't "original arcade" IMHO. And I'd have to either make a big hole in my door (that would be difficult) or get a new door. The mech has a good price though.
Suzo has a simular unit (http://www.suzo.com/suzo/product.asp?nP=11537) that can be used with the "traditional" door fronts we are used to, but it's a bit more expensive.
My currect coin mech is still for Dutch Guilders (and I don't even know if it works) so I will have to change it for a Euro mech, but I'm still in doubt. I like the sound of the mechanic accepters. But it's very handy, I admit, to be able to put in any coin you want it to validate....

Yeah I bought one a few months back, It will work with any coin you want but only one.
You just clip the coin you want to compare with into the receptor and it automatically rejects coins that don't match.
Works really well.

I actually really like the silvery front and it is authentic for some of the early games especially cocktails.
The only problem is that it doesn't match the door sold by Ultimarc which is a more modern black design.
Level42, have you any idea how much the programmable Suzo mechs cost that accept several different types of coin simultaneously? That would obviously be the ultimate solution if they can be interfaced to MAME.
