We've talked about the Second on the forum before. We were all wondeirng a price point on it, but legit reviews has posted an article http://www.legitreviews.com/article.php?aid=247 which says it will be near $200.00 which IMHO is well worth every penny for that OLED keyboard!

Your milage may vary I guess. As far as I'm concered they seem to be kind of neat, but have no real world use at least not for me. As it is I have a "multimedia" keyboard that has 17 configurable keys on it, of which I use exactly zero.
Not to say that it isn't very cool looking, but personally I don't think I could see myself buying a 200 keyboard just because the keys have tiny monitors in them. :)

It would be useful if you wanted to remap all of your keys, or if you swapped out language sets regularly.
-
It would be cool hack to get some of those tiny LCD's and mount them in clear pushbuttons.
Imagine you start Asteroids Deluxe and the buttons change to:
-
Your image is called LED_butts.

I'm sure it would be very useful to many people. I just don't happen to be one of those people.

Mine would have 'pr0n' on every single key.
-
I'df use it for all of my programs and games. All of the photoshop shortcuts would replace the keys. I think it would be well worth the money. Plus think how cool it would be. ;)
-
Actually, i'd buy it to impress the girls.
ANd is it actually available or is it still a wet dream?

Actually, i'd buy it to impress the girls.
Unless personality, bank account, physique, or vehicles impress them first, I don't think computer keyboard is going to get you too far . . .
-
Sshh, he's impressing the girls on the monitor screen.
-
m3talhead's sig line comes to mind <disturbingly>
-
the day those go on sale, i will be ordering one. the badassness of that keyboard for gaming is just awesome
-
You just want a keyboard that you can wipe off with a cloth, rather than having to turn sideways.
-
The keyboard appears that it will be produced and available next summer. ;) Yay.
-
Mine would have 'pr0n' on every single key.
yeah the chicks naked spelling out the letters on the keyboard lol ;D
-
Considering people routinely spend over $100 for dedicated keyboards like this:
(http://www.markertek.com/productImage/HI-RES/DVC-OPT6.JPG) (http://www.markertek.com/SearchProduct.asp?off=0&sort=prod)
I think they've really got something going... IF it really ends up being $200.
-
It would be dead useful for emulating old computer systems. You could make template files for the emulators to change the keyboard to similar layouts of the machines being emulated.
Very promising.....
-
IMHO, what will make or break this is software support - The average user isn't going to want to learn how to configure graphics for all the keys. But if they put out a universal driver structure, so if you install WinAmp or Sims2 or . . . the program realizes you have that keyboard and AUTOMATICALLY shows the key shortcuts - THAT will be cool!!!
-
WOW...that OLED keyboard is super cool.
I wonder if when the keyboard is idle, if someone could program it to display video or photos that would cross over all of the keys....ala a mini version of a multivideo display (ex. multi monitors in a grid pattern that share video).....hmmm.......I would think that would be possible...no?
-
assuming the program to edit key graphics and patterns is relatively eas to use, i think there will be tons of mods and support on these things
-
CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE KEYBOARD KIND!.....think of the light show possiblities!
-
I want keys that light up when you hit them. That would be spiffy for typing in the dark. This could do that.
-
this is my current keyboard btw

Good thing I haven't got this funky new keyboard yet, cause I just spilled a drink all over it.
Now the keys are al stickyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy..... damn.
-
lol
-
bump
-
They were sticky before. Admit it.
-
i just want to play EQ2 with that thing, and have all my hotkeys show icons of the spells, i would probably cream all over if that happened, good thing its spillproof
-
we'll see
