Title: Doh! self-inflicted coin door issues
Post by: fiscap on September 28, 2005, 01:25:22 am
It appears that the sweet deal I got on my coin door off of eBay isn't as sweet as I thought. I purchased a decent shape 4-player coin door a couple of months ago off of eBay with hopes of cleaning it up and replacing worn parts so that it would look new.

Last week I ordered four different color reject assemblies from Happ since the assemblies in my coin door are pretty beat up. Ultimately I was hoping to obtain the same look as tivogre's multi-color coin door since it looks so cool -

When I received the new assemblies today, I could tell instantly that they wouldn't fit my coin door - especially since they didn't have a slot in them for quarters. After a little investigation on the net, I discovered that my coin door is actually an older Wells Gardner/Coin Controls

You have the same door I do, which came with the different color inserts, but unfortunately, they were, for the most part, not in working order.  I've been told the different colors for that particular door are difficult to come by.

If you're looking for just red, they are available on e-bay at about $15 bux for the pair.  This is what I went with.

Coin Controls doors were originaly made in England and are METRIC everything. For a brief period of time they had several colors for the buttons, but were quickly discontinued. The replacements manufactured today are red. Other manufacturer's parts do not interchange on coin doors so you're screwed.

If you must have different colored entries then you must purchase a complete Happ Controls door. No worries about parts there.
