Hello from Maine,
Someone today asked me if I could make a touchscreen game.
I didn't know.
... so can we?
Thanks,
Craig

Yes.
*edit*
Ok, I won't leave it like that :)
But that's not an awful lot of info. What exactly do they want to do?

Do you mean, can we use mame to run the megatouch games on a PC touchscreen, so everyone can reminisce to last week when they were at the bar, not talking to girls, and instead playing "what is different between these two pictures?"
Err, Megatouch hasn't been "emulated" yet. Not that it would take much, since it runs on PC hardware.

Merit Industries is very protective of their game software and the special security features imbedded in the program for their "Megatouch" series.

I see,
What touch games can we make?
Thanks, I haven't read anything at all about them before.

You still aren't asking the right question.
Any game that can be played by pointing at something and hitting the mouse button can be played on a touch screen. On most TS's you can even drag and drop, so a game like Solitaire will work as well.
Do you want to make a game or a cabinet for a game or what? :)

to put it simply, you can make whatever you want, we just need to know what your getting at with this question. we need more information.

I think the lady was talking about Magatouch games, she mentioned the one that compares 2 pictures. I have never played a megatouch game myself, I was raised to not touch the TV because fingerprints :)
So I guess the question should have been can we emulate Megatouch
Thanks,
Craig

Based on Ken Layton's reply above I would say no.

The encryption is a bear (1)
Still making a ton of money so almost every emulation author wont touch it in respect to the original companies (2)
Whoever DID emulate it would have their ass sued off (3)
And they run on a PC motherboard. This seems like it would be easy to emulate... but emulating the core isn't trivial. You would do better to emulate similar to what WINE does... where it emulates the api and let the processor just think its running normal.
Then, the games really sucked. With the time, you could write your own. Look around and you could probably find shareware versions of a lot of the games. Heck anything with full mouse controls will work.
Last... expect to be sued...

A PhotoHunt style game can't be too difficult to make, more time consuming than anything since you'd have to find a million photos then photoshop some changes and mark the differences.
Here's a flash game that's a lot like MegaTouch's PhotoHunt:

Thank you all for the replies

There have to be some shareware games that are similar enough to Megatouch games to be close enough. Have you done any searches? As others have pointed out, provided they use mouse controls, you can play them on a PC touch screen.
