I have tried everything I could find to get true two player to work with my new ACT-Labs USB guns (PC version, not TV).
I tried Analog Mame+, CPN Mouse Driver, Advanced Mame. No go.
Searching around the web yielded vague recommendations.
Does anyone have two USB PC guns working in true-two player mode and how is this done?
By true two player, I mean the second player firing independently of player one (not sharing the same cursor).
Thanks!

1st, don't grab the latest analog+ mame. It doesn't have the dual mouse code in it. Read and you will see the one where he says that it doesn't have the 'core' changes yet. These changes are the ones that allow for multiple mice.
2nd. Get it working with dual usb mice first. Just to make sure it has nothing to do with the actual gun.
3rd. Calibrate to your screen resolution, and force mame to NOT change resolution or bits per pixel. And use hwstretching or d3d. Then the calibration of the gun is the same in game. This is really useful for at least the games in analog+ mame you want to run.
Then by this point, you should be able to do whatever you want. But remember you do have to recalibrate between each screen resolution or bpp change. So you may want to force these for all gun games. Really does help.

Advance is the way.
I looked in the code some weeks ag

I downloaded Analog Mame 0.83.
Used: -multiplemice -lightgun as the switches (I saw this listed on the Analog Mame Site FAQ).
It almost worked! Gun one can independently target and fire; Gun 2 can independently target, but the fire function doesn't work!
Any thoughts? I've tried various combination of the gun switches (lightgun1a, dual, etc..), but nothing came as close to working as the -multiplemice option.
Thanks!

did you get it working with two usb mice?
make sure you don't pause the game when your setting the buttons.
I can't think of anything else... and I don't have it setup so I can't post working ini file.

Have you gone into the settings and reconfigured button 1 (or whatever the fire button is called in Mame) to be the trigger for the second gun?
-
I have never fiddled with the mame settings, but this is a very good suggestion!
Granted this is AnalogMame, but I should be able to sort through this since it uses the core mame code.
If I get this to work, I will post the exact configuration since I see many, many people having problems with this two gun thing.
Thanks!

Look at your .ana files
I couldn't get anything to work till I edited these.
(Can't remember exactly what I did edit in them, it's been months since I setup my dual guns.)

dabone,
What version of Analog Mame are you using?
Any chance you could send me a copy of your .ana file?
Thanks!

Really want to play Terminator 2 with two guns.

I am having trouble also and if anyone can help I would really appreciate it. I have mame 102, two act-labs pc usb guns, and I cannot get both guns to work properly. They both track correctly (they hit where I shoot on screen) and I configured the games in mame (I did not pause the game while configuring buttons).
My problem is that both gun 1 and gun 2 register the trigger as MOUSE1 BUTTON0. I cannot get mame to recognize gun 2's trigger as mouse button 3.
Did anyone have this problem and solve it?
Thanks

I am assuming that your are using Windows XP. If you are using regular Mame, then you won't be able to use multiple pc lightguns. (You could with the TV version because it has a special switch for player on or player 2). You need to use a version of Mame that will support multiple lightguns in Windows XP:
The latest version of Advance Mame
MameAnalog+ ver 0.83 (that's the latest version of Mame Analog+ that supports it)
-
the new 2 player PC version is same as TV 2 player version and it can work in MAME32.

Question, with an arcade monitor would I get TV guns or PC guns? I am ordering the new Billabs monitor.
-
that depends on the type of connector between your VGA card and the monitor, if that is regular PC video connector, then it is PC gun, if that is s-video, then it is TV gun
