I'm currently building my cabinet with a 27" television and I'm thinking about putting my GameCube into the cabinet as well. Does anyone have any examples of interesting ways to include a GameCube in a MAME cabinet?
I'm running MAME via Component Video so my S-Video port will be open. I was thinking of somehow mounting the GameCube sideways or something with the top exposed on the side of the cabinet in order to facilitate quick disc swapping. I already have a couple of controller extension cables that I could use to mount controller ports flush with my control panel.
The main problem I see with doing this is this...
Is it actually desirable to play GameCube games at a cabinet? Obviously, console games are traditionally played from a couch. Not sure if I can see myself sitting on a stool playing GameCube.
Any thoughts?

the cube is on component.
you can use a PC on component but text will suck! the game is ok.
set font to extreem large, find a FE that uses pictures . I do this in my living room
to test games and for a quick game with out going to my game room or if I have my game room all torn apart. ( like it is 90% of the time)
any svid out card will do. Use a svid to component adaptor cord.

The GameCube doesn't use component video. The GameCube can be hooked up via composite video (video, left, right) or via S-video (s-video, left, right). I currently have MAME running on component video, so my S-video port is open. I'm not using composite video at all.
I was thinking of installing my GameCube in my cabinet, but I'm not sure how much fun it would be to play it standing or sitting on stools. Any thoughts about that?

Gamecube actually can use component video however, the cables were only made in Japan. Due to the fact that a majority of households did not use the cables, the component video port was removed from later model gamecubes. The only game i know of that used the component cables (not to say the only game that actually used them) was final fantasy crystal chonicles.

A vast majority of the Gamecube games (including new releases) will display in progressive mode if you have the component cable setup with the older version Gamecube as iamnaeth mentioned. Most of the time game companies just never bothered to list the compatibility icon on the back since it was not a very heavily used feature, but it is still supported. I'm glad I ordered mine from NoA awhile back. Pricey, but worth the cash for the video quality. Track one down if you think you might enjoy it.
