I've been ripping my collection with the help of EAC and intend to incorporate jukebox software once my game cabinet is finished.

My experience has been yes, it does present a problem. I used EAC for a few rips that WMP would not detect the proper Album Title and Artist for. In those few cases where the CDs where soundtracks or compilations, they did not retain their original grouping but rather were spread out.
When I noticed this, I went back using TagScanner and retagged them and put them all in the same folder.

I'm hoping for a jukebox style program that can reorder how it displays files in a similar fashion to itunes (which I don't like). But it completely ignores the physical location of files, just uses tags and lets you display them as albums/artists/genres/year etc..etc...
I still think something like SQL (TinySQL has been mentioned - although I am concerned that its java and not speed optimised) due to the fact its very fast and would not have an issue reordering stuff on the fly, even with very large DB's...

You may like to try Freebox (See Barcreast's thread) and my own (that dosent support touchscreen trouch, but it is planned). Both software support Dir Mask.
You may need to use TagScanner and using Dir Mask to Retag them all in the fly.

I've been trying freebox (mainly due to its good speed with a large DB).
I posted about the directory issue and Barcrest replied saying that different dirs do matter.... is there an option to turn this off?
