getting this error before and after I installed the VBruntime.exe
Component 'COMCT232.ocx' or one of it's dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid
-
Comct232.ocx (http://freeware.it-mate.co.uk/downloads/controls/comct232.zip)
download and extract to system32 folder
then goto start menu->run
type:
regsvr32 comct232.ocx
if people keep getting these kind of errors i'll set it up in a proper deployment package
-
Great work, hadn't dreamed this would catch on so quickly :D :D
Uhmmmm, my anti-virus software says this when I try to extract the files:
C:\DOCUME~1\MR.X\LOCALS~1\TEMP\RAR$DR02.891\KTKBDHK.DLL
Is the Trojan horse TR/Keylog.Dafunk.A.2
Maybe do some scanning/cleaning on your PC ? :S
-
probably because the library was written to be used as part of a keylogger? that's where original code sample was from so most likely cause of that.
-
Yeah great programme, I just did my first sound, "Challenge Me". :o
Does anybody have some good ideas for sound waves from arcade or pinball games.
I was thinking Berzerk and Sininistar would have some good sounds.
-
if i had my cab set up (and had motion detectors :P)
i think a whole bunch of taunting ones on away initiation and away return would sound awesome...ala quake 3 arena style
also the sound from sfa3 before the round starts
"don't just stand there, do something!" would be cool for away initiation on a fighter cab :D
-
Let's go ! Lemmings...(this is a Lynx sample :) )
Rename .txt to .wav...
-
...I was thinking Berzerk and Sininistar would have some good sounds.
RUN, COWARD!
-
I think Scorpian's "GET OVER HERE!" would get some attention ;D
-
take samples people! i think if we can get a good collection of awesome sounds that would be great with about say 10(minimum) for each event so there's plenty of variety and then a sound pack could be put together and it'd be awesome...hehe.
has anybody had any other hickups whilst running the program? anybody actually tried with a motion sensor? any runtime errors?
-
This is wicked, really cool man!
So how much do motion sensors cost and and which type do I need?
For Video Game realted Movie Sounds I would love to have these.
TRON - When the MCP describes what to do with FLYNN, "I want him in the Games until he dies playing."
WARGAMES - The classic phrase" Want to play a game?"
NIGHTMARES: The Bishop of Battle - "Greetings earthling, I am the Bishop Of Battle, master of all I survey."
A member by the name of Eavii has made this one a reality, please look at this thread. --> BISHOP OF BATTLE DEMO (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=41198.0)
And finally the Last Starfighter - "Greetings, Starfighter. You have been recruited by the Star League to defend the frontier against Xur and the Ko-Dan armada."
Actual game sounds are to many to list but im sure everyones tastes will differ greatly on those.
Good going effdubya, cant wait to play with this and see how it performs.
:)

I haven't got a motion sensor yet but I'll definately be getting one as soon as I get a chance.
So far no hiccups.
As far as a sound pack goes good idea, are you going to put one together?
If so, do you want people to send you sound files?
-

yes and yes
just attach anything you want included and if i think it sounds cool enuff ill add it into the pack :P

A motion detector shouldn't be very expensive anymore. Don't know about the US, but here in Europe you can get intruder alarm detectors in every DIY-store for very low prices.
Most cheap detectors use Passive Infra Red. These pick up the infra red light from a body that moves. Normaly, you'd have to actualy walk a step or two to trigger these things. Waving your hand shouldn't trigger it. PIR's are most sensetive for movement across (sideways) the detector.
These detectors idealy should be located near the top of your cab. What is a bit sad is that those detectors are usualy white and also the lens or lens-protector will be white. You can paint the housing, but not the lens protector.
Alternatively, use an UltraSonic detector. These can be placed lower. They are most sensitive for movement to and from the detector. However, these are much more uncommon. They were used a lot in car alarms. The beaty of us-detectors is that you could place it inside your cab, and drill very small holes for the transmitter and receiver. This would make it virtualy invisible. There are also DIY-electronics kit US detectors.
Whatever detector your get, be sure it has a common (C) and Normaly Open (NO) contact. Usualy in burgler alarms, normaly closed contacts are used for security reasons, but we don't need that, we want to simulate a key press (closing contact).
I am currently busy painting my home walls (got to keep the wife happy ;) )but will experiement with some detectors asap.
-
Mmmm, thinking about it: you could also put a PIR detector near the bottom of your cab and place it upside down. This way it will detect fine and not be very much in sight.

*bump* for update ;D

Seems to me you can get webcams with motion activation that perhaps could be combined with the show image feature of motioncade... how funny would that be? A Snapshot of passersby combined with a taunt...
Personally I am not interested in the motion activation part and have set this up hoping to simply have the attract mode and the return from away/ return from idle taunts occur when a key is pressed but for some reason it does not seem to work for me.. ie it does not seem to recongize my key presses... any thoughts on how I can debug this?
-
Motion detectors... why not just hack one of those cheasy bigmouth billy bass, or frog things that croak when you pass them. It has to be possible to use one... probably pretty simple on the inside.
-
Mqaybe we dont need motion detection at all just sound activation that way when the Billy Bass starts singing your cab goes into return mode...
-
Just reprogram billy bass to hurl insults.
-
I was wondering if any of you guys purchased a motion detector? I'm about to start construction of my next cabinet, and this is definitely going in. What a neat idea for kids! I'll keep you guys updated, but it's going to be awhile.
EDIT: I would be willing to get the motion detector now if someone has a good recomendation. I can tinker with this, but I don't have a clue what one to buy.
-
BTW, the sound package is really cool. I am going to use some of the clips for my mamewah sounds.
-
People might also want to consider there used to be a 'taunts' pack available for Age Of Empires 2 that contained around 1000 short soundbites from popular Film and TV. Ideal for this sort of thing.
I have no idea if its still knocking about on the web but I have it zipped (12Mb) if anyone wants me to send it to them.
