Ok, my max bid is 39.99, but I have to work tonight, If any of you see I have been outbid, you can bid and I will buy off you later, dont go over 50 dollars though, its not worth it when I can build something very similar for alot cheaper, remember, only bid if you see I've been outbid, Im blutoblutarski. If it gets past 50 dollars just let it go.
-
If you'll pay up to $50, why did you set your max bid at 39.99? If you're still around, just increase it to $50.

yeah no kidding.
That's what Max Bids are for.

Or just set your sniper. ;)

I just bid $60. ;)
What is this all about...
"Paypal can ONLY be used if the paypal funds come DIRECTLY from your EXISTING paypal account BALANCE! (in other words, if the money is already "sitting" in your account. Thanks!"

Peale has the same policy. Basically, Paypal charges one to receive creit-card based funds, which, in Peale's case, would cause him to not break even on his sales. Thus, if you are paying with Paypal, the funds must either come from an existing positive balance, or the funds must come from a linked bank account.

I am SO using that Auctiosniper thing to bid on the pachislo machine that I've now been trying for.... 5 weeks to win. I MUST have that machine!
Hard to believe everyone in the world wants that Tekken machine. I was winning tonight at $202 with 2 minutes to go, and I end up LOSING to a $335 bid with 4 seconds to go. *grumble*

I can't understand why anyone would place a bid on ebay that wasn't in the last 30 seconds of the auction. Bidding any earlier than that is just pushing up the price that the winner will pay (i.e. the price you will end up paying should you win).
The best policy is to decide what really is the highest price you would willingly pay for the item and then set a snipe to bid that amount a couple of seconds before the auction ends.
I work with a guy who is addicted to buying golf clubs on eBay and keeps complaining that 'some ---uvula--- keeps putting in bids right in the last minute and takes my clubs that I bid on two days ago. punk!' But he never learns and always bids days before the auction ends and always either looses or pays more than he should have.
-
Because the winner is the person who's willing to spend the most, not the person who gets in the last bid. It's all craziness, I tells ya.
-
I WON! ha! Anyways, I dont like putting my max bid right away, cuz if someone wants it they will just bid above it, then im done, but if i bid lower, and they bid above me, i still have a chance of putting one more bid in.

I ususally try to get a bid in at the end. Of course I forget and miss about 75% of the auctions I wanted to bid on.
... and I'm too lazy to sign up for an autobid/snipe site.
... far too lazy...

Was there actually more than one bid?
-
if I wait till the last minute I usually forget to bid on it......

Hello...
www.auctionsniper.com
I've been thinking of signing up with them for some time as I'm tired of staying up late to snipe manually but I'm a bit concerned about giving out my ebay password.
Can you vouch for them and are there any alternative snipe sites that charge less?
Thanks in advance.

That is why I never bid till the last couple of seconds, lets say I wanted that control panel. Your max bid is 39.99, I was willing to pay 50. With 5 seconds to go I put in my bid for 50.02 (that 2 cents has won me at least a dozen auctions). I beat your bid of 39.99 and win the auction for 40 bucks and you didnt have time to put in the one last bid. Its always better to snipe if its something you really want and it will usually save you money if there is more than 1-2 people bidding on the item, people always talk themselves up over what they intended to pay when they see the numbers, they think hell its only 5$ ect.
That's why I would bid $52.98 as my max. ;)
-
I would have bid at the last minute but I had to work, by bidding early I was still leading, and I didnt think I would be passed, but thats why I told you to watch it for me, cuz i also usually bid with a few seconds left. The problem is tho, I have waited till like 10 seconds left before, then the page will take too long to download and the auction will end, I couldnt take a chance liek that.
-
A sniping websites are no fun. Where is the rush of bidding in the last 10 seconds, or the fun of having one window open with the confirm bid screen and the other continually refreshing so you can see what the latest bid is. Winning auctions on EBay would be boring with out that.
Bidding within the last 10 seconds and at a strange number like X dollars and 78 cents always seems to get me what I want.

Finally a logical reason on why bidding early can result in higher prices and losing the bid, besides a version "that's the way it is" & "it works". The "other people have more time to react" arguement doesn't make sense by itself. It needs the above post (or that no one bids their max in the first place) to have any weight.
Of course there's the ... I forget and miss about 75% of the auctions I wanted to bid on.

reason why biding late keeps the final price down. ;) (Same reason I always lose, too)

That's the argument I've always used, occasionally with examples from recent auctions where one bidder's "max" bid went from $50 with 3 days left to $80 with 20 minutes left to $120 with 10 minutes left, etc...
If their "max" bid is $50, and you don't outbid them until there's 3 seconds left, they don't get a chance to CHANGE their "max" bid.
Also, if their max bid is already at $120 early, YOU don't get a chance to rethink YOUR max bid, and pay more than you really wanted to, just to win.
The downside to that is that I've lost alot of auctions that went for $0.50 more than I bid.
You don't know what their real maximum was in that case though, so I always assume it was alot higher than I would have bid with a "new" maximum.
The only ones I really get mad at are when my cable goes out while I'm trying to snipe.
That's happened to me about 1/2 dozen times, and I've seen items go for $0.06, when I was TRYING to bid $15+ on them.
I've usually ended up having to spend $15+ to get the next one that came up.
-
Thats what im trying to say, bidding your max bid makes the auction rise quick if someone outbids you, and lets you know you just lost the auction. Thats why I usually put a reasonable bid in, just to smooth things out, sometimes people dont even bid against you, then if you do get outbid you still have your max bid to put up. Anyways, my logic obviiously worked, because I wont.

This is the place I use all the time...

If you do the free snipe thing, you can only have one snipe in at at time.
