Title: Networkable Mame roms?
Post by: RaggedEdge on September 16, 2005, 02:20:52 pm
I haven't seen any yet, but wouldn't that be cool if you could have a 2 player game over the net with some of the old classic roms?  One person on one arcade box, and another on theirs....

Here is a link to an old project that was working on that.  I think there is a newer project but do not have the link.

You can. Older versions of xmame (http://x.mame.net/) for linux allowed this. Look for versions prior to the input rewrite (somewhere below .84).

There are networked windows (http://www.mamemerge.emuchrist.org/) versions floating around. There's also at least one version that violates the MAME license, so steer clear of that one.

I play Joust with my friends online (who have cabinets as well) all the time. It's FABULOUS!

Is kaillera dead?  Website doesn't come up.  Do a search for Kaillera mame, you will find it somewhere.
