Title: 3000 ROMs? How Many Do You Actually Play?

I'm in the middle of building my cabinet and I spent last night prepping the computer that I will be installing.  I started going through MAMEWah to create my filtered game list.  After essentially keying through 3000+ ROMs I ended up with a list of 125 games.

To be honest I was actually surprised at the length of that list.  I was expecting it to only be about 50 games.  I was pleasantly surprised though... having a real cabinet that plays 100+ solid, classic games (not even counting Daphne and Pinball!) will be awesome.

I can't wait until my control panel arrives!

I probably only play about 5 and its all classic and non of those CONTINUE type games so you can finish the game. I like the ones that when its GAME OVER, you start again ie..pacman, galaga, space invader etc...

Out of the 5016 roms I have, I've played maybe 10%. You need to remember though, many of those are clones/duplicates that wont get played anyway.

I play quite a few on them.. Almost everynight I try and play a game I have never played before. You'd be surprised how many games there are that are really good that no one has ever heard of.

I'm with Nasty...I play five.  With my front end I only load the games I'm interested in so you don't have to page through hundreds or thousands of games.  Based on a hundred or so I tend to play the same five 90% of the time.

I made a cab including 600 games.All these games are well known such as Neogeo CPS1,2 games. ;)I don't have any more Roms. :-\

I play 86 games, Deleted the rest  of the roms   (mame .79)

Galaga (Fast shoot) played the most by far!

Yeah I agree. There are literally hundreds of great games I have found that I never knew existed.

My regret is that right from the start I didn't record what I had tried and maybe give it a rating so when creating my games list I wouldn't have to do it all again.....

     I play about 15 initially, and another 25 are on the top of the list.  I also do what many of you do, pick a random game and check it out.  I have found a few good ones by picking them at random.  It is also interesting to see the bad games, and then have a better guess as to why the arcade market dropped off in the 1980s.

My favorites list has somewhere around 200 games, only 50 of which gets any amount of "regular" play really.

I'll occasionally pop into the main list and try a random game, but not often.

And really, Galaga/Galaga (fast shoot) probably gets played 50% of the time.
