That can't be correct. Somebody has hacked Ebay.
-
They have been bid up that high on eBay in the past ... silly console freaks!
Cheers.
-
Actually that is probably totally legit ... there are only 116 of them in the world and it has a good history behind it ... perfect collector fodder.
Hell, if I had that sort of money and was a NES freak I would probably bid on it :)
The full story is here:

I actually went to the NWC in 90. It was a blast. Buddy of mine competed and was just disqualified from moving on to the semifinals round
-
It's still not worth that much. We're talking about a NES cart here, not a freakin spanish dubloon!
But hey, those seem to be legit bids, with exception of that zero feedback bidder. Might be a shill...
-
I wouldn't pay $0.01 for it if I couldn't turn around and sell it for profit.
-
with that kind of dough for one, you can buy the entire NES games...
But I won't even take it if its given to me and he/she/owner will pay for shipping :P

Thats not the point. That would be like buying 100 Chevy Corvettes, to make up for the one you really really want, which is the original 1969 Chevrolet Corvette ZL-1 427, 2D Coupe of which only 3 are known to exist.
Supply/Demand is what gives everything in the world its worth.
-
that just goes to prove that some people have too much money laying around...
and that I need a new job >:(
-
OMFG :o :o :o
-
Seriously.. hes gotta be outbid by the person before his bid. Its only an extra $100...
when your at that price. money is thrown out the window anyways.
-

This I'll give you the 6k for it ;D
-
Face it, this is THE holy grail of any NES collector. Expendable income + crazy hobby = EBay Fun!
-
Even for this "grail" that's an absurd price. Also, that 116 number has now been shown to be wrong. At least 3 more than were known have popped up in the last three months and there's rumor that there are maybe as many as 300 of the carts.
-
I would be shocked if there were no bootleg copies out there. The label is plain and simple, not too much to print out. No fancy packaging.
For that kind of money, Nintendo ought to leak a few out theselves!
-
Wasn't there a movie about those old Nintendo tournaments. I'm remembering the kid from Wonder Years.

I have read on another forum that the ROM is available. I don't have it.
-
that was not hard to find.

seems to me to be an opening for some counterfeiting there, especially if the ROM is available...

Not to be picky, but, as far as I know, only 2 exist.
(4 were built. Two were used as engineering vehicles and were destroyed. Two are in the hands of very lucky private collectors)

The rom most certainly is avaliable, i have a copy :)
From experience it will only run on nester.

From what I understand, 4 were manufactured, but only 1 was destroyed during testing. Its rumoured that the 3rd still exists, but nobody can find records of any kind past 70'-71'.

Oh man, don't be going and getting my hopes up.
It would be a extreemely cool car to own.
-
Anyone have a picture of this car? Google came up with some matchbox cars....
My dream car is actually a 77' Pukin Chicken. East Bound and Down!

Well, since its going off topic anyway...
Thats one of my OTHER projects. I've got a '79 Y-84 edition Firebird sitting in my driveway slowly rusting to death. One of about 9000 made.
The headlamp surround is different from the '77, and theres those pesky emmission controls, but to a layman, its the 'Bandit' car all over again.
The big killer is what the Olds 403 engine does to your gas bill.

I knew a guy at me last base (who knew a guy-who knew a guy-who knew a guy), who was a realtor up in Indiana or Oklahoma, or someplace boring. Anyways, he sold a piece of land to an elderly lady who's husband died. On this land was a barn. Inside this barn was a rusted out old car covered in leaves and dust.
The car was an original Shelby Cobra with a serial number in the single digits.

Hey, now I know a guy who knew a guy - who knew a guy - who knew a guy - who knew a guy that that happened to!
-
Man, what a small world....

You think that friend of a friend of a friend story is crazy, look at this... 6 shelby daytona coupes were ever built and all but one was accounted for....
http://www.nvsaac.com/gallery/missing_daytona_coupe.htm
This crazy old lady had it rusted out in her garage since the 70's, all her family is now in legal battles lying about who she promised it to ect atm trying to get ownership of it, but basicly this car is worth well over 4 million dollars, maybe much much more

Thats the ultimate rust bucket in a barn story
