I seem to have a lockup issue with ArcadeOs and dMame using dos 7.0. I am trying to get this ATI rage pro video card to work with an Asus motherboard with Via chipset. every time I try and run ArcadeOs or Mame in dos it just locks up. I have searched the forums and found a few people with similiar issues. One suggested installing the Via 4 in 1 update driver. I have done that and still i cannot get this resolved. Any suggestions? Ideas? I am at teh end of my rope on this one.

Forgot to mention that i am using Svideo output to a 25" TV.

*bump* I still need some assistance on this issue, if anybody has some infomation. Thanks!

The 4in1 driver is for windows only.
Are you running freedos 7.0?
Try switching to a windows 98 dos boot.
http://www.bootdisk.com
see if that helps at all.

Yes I am using Win 98 Dos. (dos 7.0) Are you aware of any drivers i can download to get this working correctly?
-
DOS DOES NOT REQUIRE DRIVERS FOR MOTHERBOARDS!
(Just sound and mouse drivers)
Are you running it from within windows??
These apps are made to run from dos only, not a dos command line window under windows.
To boot into straight dos mode edit your c:\msdos.sys file and change bootgui=0
(Also to disable the win98 splash screen add logo=0)

I am runnig dos and i have modified the msdos.sys. I do not have a problem running arcadeos or dMame from within windows dos prompt. I do get a lcokup when trying to run arcadeos or dmame from pure win98 Dos.

I should also add that the PC is curently using an Nvidia video card which does work fine in DOS. But the reason I am trying to use the ATI video card is that the TV out quality is much much better. as can be seen running arcadeos from within windows 98 dos command prompt. I cannot stop using pure DOS because there are some games that simply have poor frame rates while runnigin in Win98. Also I do like the ease of shutdown in DOS.
