Title: pacman original pricing?

someone at work (pinball guy) wanted to know how much pacmans (or puckmans) sold for originally.

Anyone know?

Don't look at me. I thought every video game in the world only cost 25 cents, but you could only own it for a few minutes at a time. :)

Just to show my age... my reply to him for the same question was 1 token... and you could get 10-12 tokens for a dollar...

There are some Atari production documents that list uprights from that era as averaging $2000 u.s. as "intro price". What I'm not clear on is whether that is their manufacturing cost, wholesale cost, or suggested retail cost.

without reading through the documents, it seems unlikely they would refer to the manufacturing cost as manufacturers play that sort of stuff close to their chests. besides, its irrelavent to the buyer...

Then maybe you should have read through the documents. They were scans of "internal" documents not meant for anyone outside the company.
