I'll run this.
-
Do you want PM or just post here? If Post here then I say:
Carolina over New Orleans.
-
Post here, so that if I eff something up, people can call me on it.
-
KC Chiefs over NY Jets
-
Adding new rule: You cannot pick the same team two weeks in a row.
-
As I said before, I know nothing about football. Never one to let knowing nothing stop me, I'd be happy to randomly pick a team if I knew who was playing. Sadly, I'm too lazy to search up a schedule, so I'm just going to go with the opposite of what Chad chooses. So I'll go with the Raiders. ;D
-S
-
So, logically, one of us will be eliminated this week.
The Patriots are two time defending NFL Champions. The Raiders were 5-11 last year.
-

I hope it's me. I can't deal with this kind of pressure for long. ;)
-S
-
That is not what your sig indicates.
-
Well there are hobbies and then there are hobbies. I'd explain what I mean by that, but I'm not sure myself.
-S

Colts over Ravens
--JamIt
-
Green Bay over Detroit
-
St. Louis over San Francisco
-
Giants over the cardinals.
-
I REALLY hate to say this but...Minnesota over Tampa Bay.
-
Did I win yet?
-S
-
No, you will be eliminated tomorrow night.
-
I want to make sure I understand the rules. This week I picked St. Louis over San Francisco. Assuming I'm right, the next week I cannot choose St. Louis OR San Francisco to either win or lose, is that right?
-
Hrm... that's a good point. It's not clear.
Let's make it so that you cannot involve a team in any way in two consecutive weeks. That is, you cannot involve a team in any capacity for two weeks in a row.
-
Another thought, what happens if all those still standing are eliminated in same week? This is America, we don't believe in stinkin ties :)
--JamIt
-
Hrm. Logically, if all remaining players are eliminated at once, I guess we could keep them all.
Opinions?
-
Hrm... that's a good point.

I'm guessing
Broncos over Dolphins
-
I'm guessing
Broncos over Dolphins
I can't belive I forgot about the dolphins. those guys are probobly going to end up 13-3 this year.
-
so are you saying I made a good guess? ???
-
You should set this up through yahoo http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/pickem. I would imagine that it would make the logistics of this a lot easier and would save a lot of time and head ache. Just a suggestion.
-
We don't need no stinkin Yahoo.
-
Fair enough. I figured 2 minutes of set up time would be worth saving you the hassle of watching this thread and updating it for 17 (most likely fewer as people will dwindle down) weeks. To me my time would be too valuable to waste with the logistics when there is a free system in place. Carry on. ;)
-

oops, reverse that 3-13.
-
Fair enough.
-
Just from 8:30-5 mon-fri, really. Other times I'm not here much.
-
blasphemy
-
Hey, contrary to popular opinion, I have a real life. 8)
-
Rams over Niners. SF will be lucky to win any games this year.
-
Green Bay over Detroit
The homer in me likes that pick, but seeing them all year makes it a toss-up for me.
I'm going with STL beating the pants off SanFran. No pants on a tight end, Stingray's gonna get interested in foos-ball pretty quickly ;) ;)
-
Bills over Houston
-
The best way to do this is to only be able to pick a certain team once throughout the entire season. If you pick the Colts in week one, you can't pick the Colts again all season. It makes it a lot more challenging instead of just filp-flopping between two good teams every other week. Atleast this is how every NFL survivor pool I have been in has worked.
-
Best for you, not best for me who would have to verify every contestant's pick against their previous picks over the entire season.
This isn't every other NFL survivor pool you have been in.
-
Oh, let's pick a game that hasn't been used yet. Let's see......
Cincinnati over Cleveland
That should be good to get me eliminated in the first week.
-
Chad are you going to tell us if we guessed correctly or do we have to research that ourselves?
-
Best for you, not best for me who would have to verify every contestant's pick against their previous picks over the entire season.

True, it would be a pain to verify each team every week, I was just throwing in my $0.02, no need to get testy...
-
Chad are you going to tell us if we guessed correctly or do we have to research that ourselves?
How much research would be involved? Looking at the NFL's website on Monday morning?
-
After the games have happened, I will post the names of eliminated members. Those who have not been eliminated will then be able to delcare their new picks.
Some of these guys don't watch football and their picks are basically guesses. They won't have to verify the results, I will do that. This is also the reason I have made the game slightly easier than usual, so anyone can participate.
-

WAH, I want to play but don't want to look up a result. :'(
-
WAH, I want to play but don't want to look up a result.
-
I'm willing to take pretty much anybody's word for whether I lost or not.
Have I lost yet?
-S
-
The only problem I see in your strategy Stingray is if you win then who you are you going against next week?
-
Have I lost yet?
No, you lose tonight.
-

Dunno, man. I don't think that far ahead. ;D

I wouldn't have it any other way.

Stingray,
You are now officially out. :'(
-
Stingray,
You are now officially out. :'(
Really? That's so cool? Am I the first? Do I get a prize for that?
-S
-
No, no prize for picking a 5-11 team over the team that won 3 of the last 4 superbowls.
-
It seemed like such a great choice at the time.
-S
-
you'll get em next year........
-
Nah, I'm bored with this whole football thing. Next year I'm doing a last man standing LaCrosse pickem. ;)
-S
-
Oh geez. San Francisco is over St. Louis 21-6 at the half. Who'd a thunk it?
-
Wel . . . it was fun while it lasted :o
-
Wow, 8 of 14 out in week 1, and one still undecided.
-
Out on SF over St. Louis. Unreal. Nothing like being out in Week 1.
-
Come on! Double Elimination.
-
I did a Pick 'Em pool and ranked StL as my top pick too.
Bad enough the Packers dropped a deuce in Detroit, but now this too?
-
Oh, BTW, Drew, you bastard. I thought that trade offer had expired. :o
-
I guess I'm not a good guesser.......
I'm out.....
best 2 out of 3 ??? ;)
-
Oh, BTW, Drew, you bastard. I thought that trade offer had expired. :o
I didn't notice if they put a date on those things or not, and I thought you sent it while I was outta town. After it goes through, I'll send 'im back to you.
-
I sent that like two days after the draft. After thinking about it, no big deal, keep him. I can't stand McNabb and don't want any reason to cheer for his success. Merry Christmas.
-
Yeah, now that his moobs are hurting and he's afraid to run ;)
That's the thing I hate about Yahoo. Trades or anything like that are impossible to see if you don't look carefully at the top... make a friggen pop-up window like the PM message advisor here or something ::)

Week 2 Pick: Pittsburgh over Houston
-
week 2: Indianapolis over Jacksonville
-
Week 2: Indianapolis.... oh crap I'm still out. :)

Week 2 Money Pick: the Packers over the Browns.

Week 2 Pick : Eagles over Niners

Week 2 Money Pick: the Packers over the Browns.
And then there were 4...
-
Dude, this is a tough year to pick. Falcons, Eagles, Patriots all 1-1? Green Bay, San Diego, Oakland, Minnesota all 0-2?
Tampa and Cincinnati 2-0?
Gotta say, as a lifelong Bucs fan, the Bucs look way better than anticipated. They kicked the crap out of the Bills yesterday and beat a Vikings team, in Minnesoata, that everyone expected to be a force. Cadillac Williams is going to be a star, Michael Clayton is even better than his spectacular rookie year, and Griese is playing as well as any QB in the league right now. The D is always great so long as we still have Derrick Brooks, Ronde Barber, Simeon Rice, and Monte Kiffin. I'm stoked, I had expected them to be a 7-9 team at best this year and so far they look far better than that.
-
Week 3:
-
Wow, bold, picking against the Pats.
-
Wow, bold, picking against the Pats.
I would never bet against the Pats a week after a humiliating loss.
-
Yeah, this week is their measuring stick for 2005. If they are going to be able to stop that inside run they need to prove it against Pittsburgh. Wilfork did a great job against the Raiders closing off the inside but the Panthers were able to get through. I'm hoping that Roethleswhatever is more hurt than they say he is... he and Ward put on a show in week 2.
-
I dont think New England is anywhere near as good as they were last year. I think losing that offence of cord. really hurt them. They look stale to me on offence.
Im taking my chances besides I hate New England.
-
It certainly does look like Weis' loss is a problem. Losing Bruschi and Johnson has been an issue for them too. With those guys in there, Davis does not score 3 TDs.
-
Colts over Browns
--JamIt
-
I'm still in this? Gotta fix that.
Chargers over Giants.
-
man I thought I had it. Damn you Tom Brady.
Im out.
-
Bump for week 4.
-
At this rate, it'll be settled by midseason. Should we implement a "no picking a game another player has already picked" rule to encourage earlier/riskier picks?
Cincinnati over Houston
-

Nope, the rules were all agreed to... no point in changing them now. If it ends quickly that's just a result of most participants sucking.

Okay, well, you just keep on copying JamIt's picks, then. Almost won it for me.
;)
-
I made the pick first.
-
Suuuure you did. Where's the post? I know, you just update the first post to make your picks, which destroys the evidence when you go back later to add JamIt's picks. How convienent.
(Yeah, I know I'm really lousy at smack talk)
-
Funny, I didn't realize how similar, or nearly exact :), CT and my picks have been. Rest assured that my picks are have not been influenced by CT. They are in fact influenced by my office confidence pool, which coincidently I have won the first 4 weeks ;D
--JamIt
p.s. Chad, I'm leaning towards Indy over San Fran this week. What do you think? :)
-
That certainly would be the smartest pick this week.
-
I'll take Indy over SF
-
It's by far the surest pick this week. We may all end up using it.
-
i got sf for the upset
-
It's by far the surest pick this week. We may all end up using it.
Not me, I try to stay away from the "sure" picks (after seeing how much good it did folks in the first week). Denver over Washington.
-
Yeah, though now that the good teams have shaken themselves out, the sure things are a lot surer.
I would have picked the Bucs over Jets, but I can't pick the Bucs two weeks in a row. :-\
-
there is hardly a sure pick. did you guys know smith was starting for SF? i want my pick back. my sister was at that dallas game to meet the team. she must have jinxed philly.
-
there is hardly a sure pick. did you guys know smith was starting for SF?
Why on earth would it matter if their rookie QB was starting for them? San Fran is a bottom-dwelling team that you shouldn't pick as a winner unless they're playing the local high school football team. More commonly known as the girl's soccer team.
You flushed your pick by choosing San Fran in the first place.
-
Uh, Drew, he's not even in the game.
-
Uh, Drew, he's not even in the game.
Me neither, but I found out I must be passing some kidney stones, so I'm feeling like bitching. Especially to a SanFran fan ;)
-
Anticipation of the painful passage of solid objects through the penis is justification for nearly any message board post.
Carry on.
-
In keeping with the "not a lock" pick methodology
Carolina over Detroit

You sir are now a friend. ;) Carolina is gonna take the title this year! Where did I put that sarcasm tag again....
-
I'll take Atlanta over New Orleans.
Is that considered a "lock"?

Anyone over the Texans or 'Niners is considered a lock. The odds are WAY too stacked in your favor in those games.
-
Giants over Cowboys, no doubt.
-
Chad? You still playing? I don't see your pick for this week. And since you picked Indy last week, you'd have to go with the Rams tonight. Don't like those odds.
-
Yeah, meant to get it in, then my weekend went all wonky.
I DQ myself. :-\
-
Giants over Cowboys, no doubt.
Looks like the Giants did your best "bend-over and take it" imitation. ;D
-
So, now it's down to two. Stupid that I lost by DQ, stupid on me, but that's the rule.
I was so focused on my own game sunday I forgot about this. I played in my first game back from the back injury, started at DE. Felt damn good to be back and my back sees no more ill effect than the rest of my bruised and cut up body. :)
-
Giants over Cowboys, no doubt.
Looks like the Giants did your best "bend-over and take it" imitation. ;D
around here, that's called a "tommy"
-
how do you think he does it
I don't know
what makes him so good
-
i'm going with 21-14 indy for some reason. if it's a blowout, i wouldn't kill myself.
looks like a blowout ;D
-
This week's pick: Washington over SF

I'll take Indy over Houston

Sure Chad, ignore those of us still in this game. Sore loser :)

you should try to play scrabble against him..........

Ignore what, I put your picks in, and you both won this week, yes?
Just ignor JamIT, I for one, appreciate that you're still updating the first post even though you're out.
Cowboys over Cards this week.
-
And yet again I win a BYOAC NFL game (See last year's Fantasy football) by being the only person who cared enough to keep playing.
-
Heh... half congrats. :)
-
Damn Halloween weekend. Too much partying, not enough web surfing :) No excuse though, I should have gotten my pick in.
Congrats Abrannan!

congrates
;D

i got new england in the upset tonight.

You got The Clap.
