Title: 25k games on 15k monitor with ArcadeVGA

Taken from the Ultimarc Monitor FAQ (http://www.ultimarc.com/monfaq.html):

So what about games with resolutions of 301-480 lines? Well we do have a problem here with a 15Khz monitor as we cannot display them with either non-interlaced (not enough lines) or interlaced (top/bottom borders too wide). So for these few games (which originally used 25Khz medium-res monitors), we have to resort to hardware stretching, which re-samples the screen and adjusts the size. Fortunately H/W stretch and interlace degrade a high-res picture less than a low-res one.

How's it look?  I'm trying to decide if I can live with playing Super Sprint and 720 through MAME on a perfectly good 25" standard res monitor that I've already got.  If those two games display well enough, then I'm in good shape, as I can't think of any other medium res games that matter.  But if they look lousy, then I need to pursue another option, as those are must-have games for me.

Looking for opinions, pictures, links, whatever you've got on the subject.  I'd also like to hear any other medium res games you might think I've left off of my must-have list.

To get the best scaling prioritize like this:
1. Use integer scaling or something with "single digit" ratios (i.e. 2:1, 3:2, 4:3 etc).
2. Use as many lines as possible (i.e. 512 line look better than 480 lines)
3. Apply a scaling effect.

If you apply this to a 384 line 25KHz game, you should use a resolution with 576 (3:2 scaling), 512 (4:3) or 480 (5:4).

Note that your 15KHz horizontal games will get borders with 576 and 512 lines so you have to check if the improved display for 25KHz games (and vertical 15KHz games) is worth it. I do.
