Title: Airline Miles are useless
Post by: toolaa on September 02, 2005, 08:56:35 pm
I've just spent 45 minutes on the phone with Delta special member services trying to book a flight using airline miles.  What a waste of time.  When you want to go to any destination where anyone else also wants to go too there are simply no flights available to use your miles.

I need a flight from Baltimore to Paris...I asked for a few dates and nothing.  Then I asked for other flights.  Nothing.  For spite I asked for dates further out....No luck  Then I asked for any flight any time in the future using any number of connections from BWI to Paris or Dulles to Paris.  After 5 minutes on hold she came up empty.

Finally I asked where can I fly too...

She said "Anywhere a sky team member flies, provided there is availability on the flight for award travel"

Thanks, if I get the urge to fly from BWI to Toledo I'm sure there will be plenty of seats....

Sorry for you bad experience, I recently took the famiy on vacation using American Airline Miles. I was able to book a flight 2 weeks in a advance (usually you have to reserve with 4 weeks in advance). So it turned out great for me.

That sucks.  I think all the airlines are different.  I used to use all of my continental miles for upgrades to first class.  I'd pay the cheapest rate I could find then fly FC.  It was awesome.

Now I can barely get an upgrade.  Such hardships.

Once you've flown FC you never want to go back  ;D
