Is there a simple way to get Daphne working in MaLa? All the messages I could find related to doing it are in German on the MaLa forum, and unfortunately I can't read German.
I have Daphne working well in Mamewah, and wanted to do the same in MaLa.
Any help is appreciated.

What is Daphne? The one from Fraiser?
-
Daphne emulates Laserdisc games like Dragon's Lair and Space Ace. :)

You could try looking at the Forum through a translator like:
http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.arcadezentrum.com%2Fforum%2Fboard.php%3Fboardid%3D61%26sid%3D&langpair=de%7Cen&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&prev=%2Flanguage_tools
In any case the MaLa author 'swindus' regularly visits this forum so no doubt you will get an answer
You can also look here:

I would think you could use a batch file the same way we used to in MameWAH. The author will need to confirm and tell you which variable name to use in the command line based on what mala sends to the emulator.

It should work similar in MaLa.

OK. In Mamewah, I have it set it up without using batch files. I just point to the framefiles instead of the roms and tell Mamewah to use a txt extension. When I try that in MaLa I can't any games to show up at all. Do I need to use batch files to get it working?
Thanks for the help everyone.

Ok, I see, there are some differences.
Here is a complete set of batch files for using daphne in MaLa: http://mala.arcadezentrum.com/MaLa-Daphne-Batchs.zip
Will also works with other frontends.
Put the daphne.bat file into the daphne root dir, the other bat files can be placed somewhere in one folder.
Then edit all path information to the framefiles in these batch files to your needs.
After that use the daphne.bat as emulator executable, 'bat' as rom extension and point the rom path to the bat files.

Thanks! :)
There is a typo in the link, but I changed mam to mala and got the file.

link is fixed :)

I got it working using the batch files.
Thanks again for the help.

Are there more recent bat files to include Dragon's Lair 1&2, Space Ace,...

I don't see an update on the website so I guess not?
I have never used daphne but could you not just modify one of the batch files?
The files only have one line of text to change.
eg:
start/wait %1 galaxy vldp -framefile E:\RomsundIsos\Arcade\Laserdisc\Galaxy_Ranger\galaxy.txt -fullscreen -blank_skips -blank_searches
start/wait %i blazer vldp -framefile E:\RomsundIsos\Arcade\Laserdisc\Interstellar_Laser_Fantasy\interstellar.txt -fullscreen -blank_skips -blank_searches
start/wait %1 cobraab vldp -framefile E:\RomsundIsos\Arcade\Laserdisc\Cobra_Command\cobra.txt -fullscreen -blank_skips -blank_searches
This is posted of the MaLa website:
Batch files for using Daphne with MaLa. Please replace the path information in the batch files to your needs. Use 'bat' as rom extension and daphne.bat as executable in the emulator settings.

Following the advice of UncleT, I made my own bat files from the Daphne_log.txt file.
Launch a game from DaphneLoader.
make sure it works.
Open the Daphne_log.txt
Copy the commandline. It shows you this at the top of the file.
Paste commandline in Notepad.
Save the file as a bat into your batfiles folder (ie. Dragon's Lair.bat)
Do this for the games you have working and/ or want.
The following is from UncleT:
5) In MALA, goto "Other emu config" and add a NEW "Daphne" emulator
6) Under the "Basics" tab
- Do not add anything in the "Executable" section ... leave it blank
- In the "Rom Path "section, point to your "C:\Daphne\batFiles\" folder
- The "Rom Extension" should be filled out for you and indicate BAT only
7) Under the "Execution" tab do the following:
- Set the "Command Line" to be "%path%\%rom%.%ext%" <-- include the
quotes
8) Click OK to close the MALA Options window
Now, you should be able to do a "Refresh game list" and see the games
display. When you select a game to play, then the BAT file you wrote
should be executed, so if starting the game using the BAT file worked
outside of MALA, then everything should work now.
UncleT is da man!!! :notworthy: Mine has worked perfectly.

I have been asked by multiple people to possibly document everything I did with regards to setting up emulators in MALA...... I might look into doing this when I have some time.
