Title: Need encoder help
Post by: KungFuJoe on August 29, 2005, 02:19:38 pm
I recently bought an Optipac and an Ipac2...going to use it to accomodate 2 P360s and 2 trackballs or spinners.  My setup will be modular so even though I will add more controllers in the future, those 2 encoders will never have to handle more than 2 joysticks and or 2 optical devices.

But, regarding +5V for the P360s and the trackballs/spinners...if I'm using the USB version of the encoders, can I just run a wire from the +5V on the encoder to the +5V on the controller or will I have to utilize my PCs power supply?  I read the docs and it seems to state that I can use power from the USB port, but I just wanted to make sure.

Not familiar with the P360s, but I am definitely powering my Happs trackball from the optipac's 5V lead.  Shouldn't be a problem. :)
