Title: Darkwatch on Xbox is sick!
Post by: M3talhead on August 27, 2005, 05:03:21 pm
Incase you guys havent picked it up yet, Darkwatch has to be the best FPS out there right now! I've only been playing it for about 4 or 5 hours, but it's quickly becoming my new favorite shooter! This game has the multiplayer/replay value of the Halo series, the graphics of Ninja Gaiden, and an enemy variety that rivals every other action Xbox title out there.

Imagine if you will, a FPS set in the 1860's, vampires and ghouls riding on undead horses, and a weapon inventory that makes Rambo jeleous. It sounds like a trainwreck, but trust me, these guys pulled it off! Guts, gore, big guns, (even hot chicks) and intense gameplay means you guys really need to get on board with this game!

M3talhead gives this game a ***** (5) Star Rating!

I read some reviews that sounded great, but I gave it a whirl and it seems pretty mediocre to me.  Just like so many other FPS games on every other system out there. I also didn't see what the big deal was with God of War on PS2. Then again, I'm finding it difficult to find anything that fills the Splinter Cell Chaos Theory void right now.

To be honest, I actually enjoyed it a bit. It is an extremely original idea for a FPS, and is pretty easy to control camera angles.

Is a PC release planned? I can't stand playing FPS games with a pad.
Feels like driving a tank after using mouse & keys.

Edit: Sorry, I didn't realize I had posted this in the console forum. My comments sound crappy in that context. Still curious if its going to be out on other platforms.

I beat the evil path last night.  Its not to bad of a game.  Its got a GREAT concept but it seems like a lot was left out and the levels are way to small.

Id give it a

3.5/5

I have so little time to play games (but have so many great ones) that I doubt I'll get to it.  I'm still working on GTA: San Andreas (I don't recommend the Hot Coffee patch; it messes up your game so you have to use a suicide cheat code and then every time you save it recommends that you don't save because cheat codes have been activated and it makes you feel like you are one of those people who ruins games by cheating) and Jade Empire.  And Beyond Good and Evil and Farcry.  I'm most excited to play Psychonauts, but haven't picked it up yet.  I'm actually going to buy that game rather than steal it like I do all my others just because Tim Schafer (Day of Tenticle, Full Throttle, Grim Fandango) deserves so much more success than he is currently enjoying from this game, which is his first since he left LucasArts to form his own company.

Try the SmartJoy FRAG keyboard/mouse adapter for Xbox.
