Title: What is this control panel?
Post by: AC. on August 27, 2005, 12:12:55 am: I bought some cabinets and one of them came with this panel. I think I named my final version the 'Ultimate Arcade', but, after seeing all the great cabs at this site, I think I should have named it, the 'Standard Arcade'. While sanding, underneath the paint was Asteroids side art -- too messed up to save. I am quite sure this cabinet was originally an Asteroids cab. This control panel was on the cab. The good part was that the panel space was large enough to fit a lot of controls. See the final project at http://www.carnine.net/arcade/
QUESTION: What game was this control panel for? Thanks.

I am not familiar with Rastan. the control panel as it is pictured, is just as it was when I bought the cab. no sanding on the panel at all. it seemed to fit on the cab perfectly, the only sanding was on the cabinet itself. thanks again!

Post by: Rook3 on September 01, 2005, 07:53:21 pm: Interesting! I never saw what I assume is a "dedicated" overlay for Rastan before. Even back in the 80s, all the Rastans I ever played had generic solid color panel overlays. Very interesting!

A local bowling alley had it and for whatever reason,the control panel wasn't bolted/latched down. We quickly realized that if we lifted it up the coin bucket was straight down below it. I'm guessing that the bowling alley didn't empty the coins too often, since all three of us ended up playing games all night and I went home with about $10 in quarters still. I think I was around 13 years-old at the time.

BTW, I was looking at the KLOV control panel pic and realized...the Taito logo is in the middle of the joystick hole on ascar9's.
