...also...what's better to use...USB or PS2? Assuming I have a powered USB hub available....

If you mean this interface (http://www.happcontrols.com/trackballs/56011300k.htm), yes. The TBs were designed to be able to replace each other in the arcades, so you won't have problems with any 3" TB.
USB is usually a little "better", but not always, and usually not noticeably:
As long as you don't have too much stuff plugged into the same root hub (usually each pair in the computer shares a root hub inside), and you don't have a harddrive or other high bandwidth device on the same root hub, and you don't have a poor USB root hub chip. My old motherboard had a set of chips that was know to have USB problems; they showed on mine by dropping the mice randomly (at least it was also rarely). Most current MB's don't have this problem anymore, though.

Thanks for the reply.
I have another question...what's better to use for these trackballs...the Happs USB interface or an Optipac? It seems the Happs would be much easier to wire up...just connect and plug in the USB. Is there any advantage to using the Optipac...is it just a cost issue? Since you need a separate Happs interface for each trackball (I have 2), it can get quite costly I assume. Also, this is probably something I could easily look up, but if you happen to know offhand how many devices you can connect to an Optipac....
