Anyone know of anybody putting arcade games into conversion vans?
I saw a piece on TV last night in Chicago about some of these next generation vans and they looked great - big plasma screens, 7.1 thx sound systems etc ... why not plug a control panel into there and have a rolling arcade!
If done right with a flat screen and a low profile cabinet built into the side it seems like you could have one of these rotating captains chairs or maybe even individual fold down panels (one from each side of the van for two player action on the main screen.
I know this is totally off the wall, but I would love to have a rolling arcade!
I am thinking about this as a potential project but wanted to get feedback before I started. Anyone know any conversion van people or custom auto people that might be able to help?
Cheers!

There's a cheap van for sale in the B/S/T area that you could get started with...
But do you really want to hang around in your car and play video games? I've never understood the whole "TV in the trunk / Playstation in the car" thing...

Games in the car are for going to Las Vegas from LA. VEGAS BABY WOOOO!

There was an episode of "pimp my ride" on mtv where they added a cocktail cabinet to the interior of a toyota mini-van (an older one 80's model). I think they used a 19" flat panel connected to one of those ms. pacman all-in-one tv controlers.

Heh I caught an episode of that show where they put 3 X-Box consoles in the back of this guy's car and had them all linked up. The host said something like "So now you and 11 of your friends can play X-Box together." The guy responds with "But I don't have that many friends." ;D

I can see a miniwinni (mini Winnebago) put a few video games
and a wall mounted coin changer. Super airconditioners needed.
Use it to pull the snow-cone vending trailer to fairs and other
shows.
I used to have a trailer with payphones and a Tellular radio hub.
(cellular radio's that had a wired telephone interface and smart payphones)
As can guess do it for making some money when wife and I retire.
If we retire.

but I thought you were going to get a dog and use that to run around and solve mysteries

You could make money by hiring it out. Have parties with a mobile arcade. That would be cool.

I saw that one too. They basically glued the thing to a board and called it done. It was soooo ugly. The way I was yelling at the TV, you'd think the Packers just got a touchdown. ;)
I don't understand the deal with junk in the trunk either. [enter jokes]

If you look at the quality of electronics they use on PMR, its all second rate junk. Sure its name brand stuff, but its all the low end crap nobody wants. I still to this day cant understand why they'd spend all that money on cheap hardware, fixing up the outside of these vehicles, when you could put those funds to use by say, oh I dont know, FIXING THE DAMN DRIVETRAIN! :police:

My guess would be that 1: the electronics are given to them by the manufacturer for promotional purposes, and 2: fixing the drivetrain would take actual work. Besides, the show in question is called "Pimp My Ride"... Pimpin's all about flash, not about substance. ;)

Its hard to look cool when your ride is on blocks.....

On PMR they only care about getting the car to look good on the day of delivery. They often do not fix things like rust with the long term in mind. I always wonder what these cars will look like in a few months.
