Title: Round-headed bolts for metal CPs?
Post by: javeryh on August 24, 2005, 04:16:56 pm
I'm about ready to assemble my CPs but I don't have anything to fasten my joysticks in with.  Does anyone have any recommendations as to where to buy these things?  I think they are round on top like 1/2 spheres that you can only access from underneath.  They are for T-Stiks.  Thanks!

You should be able to pick some up at your local hardware store like Home Depot or Lowes.

You're talking about carriage bolts.  They have a square under the base of the bolt head that is supposed to dig into the wood or metal so they don't try to turn when the nut is tightened on the other side.  They also have something called an elevator bolt which is the same thing without the rounded head.  They are flat and very large head (think fender washer sized).

Both of these should be avaliable in any hardware store.  Just ask for them with these names and you should have no problems.

I mounted mine in a similar fashion, but found allen head bolts at Sears hardware I really liked. They're flat black and pretty small while still keeping a rounded profile.
I guess if you're striving for authenticity they're a bad choice because the animals in the arcades would have disassembled them in 5 minutes.  ;)
