The thing thats so stupid about it (besides the fact that this guy just built a bomb and placed it in a public space), is that I could hold a gun to someone's head in an art gallery and sat its art so long as I dont apply more than 3.5 lbs of pressure to the trigger.  ::) ::)

So, if a guy with darker skin built a giant bomb next to a federal building, but called it art, would it be tolerated?

Maybe the thought it, look at that freakin guy, and look at his friends.  So long as the bomb is small, let him finish it, and then we call it in from downstairs and say oops.

I thought the same thing about the wrong number. When I first got my cell phone I used to get about three or four wrong numbers every day.

Ultimately here's my take:

The bomb will not be real, but the real artistic genius lies behind the hype.  People will be standing beside the display, and they'll get goosebumps because they'll be under the impression that the bomb could go off at any time.  The control will be out of their hands, which is a pretty profound statement when you think about it.  That lack of control brings about emotional response in people.  My guess is that it'd generate more of an audience than one would think.

The fact that a wrong number could be dialed, or telemarketers etc, solidifies that for me.  Wait and see, you'll see a follow-up article someday about how it wasn't a real bomb, and they (artist and musium curator guy) were playing it up to generate emotion from the public.

It reminds me of wrestling, oddly enough... When a wrestler gets "injured" and you're left to wonder if he actually was injured in some capacity, or whether it's all part of the storyline.

I don't think the bomb is art... but after it goes off, there will be LOTS of art all over!

I think Effayy hit it right on the head.  There is no way the "bomb" presents any real danger.  The BATF would be ALL OVER the artist and the gallery and everyone involved would be in prison so fast they wouldn't know what hit them.
