A while back I remember some discussion about someone who's making the Robotron-style shaft and balls of different colors. Anybody remember how to order these? Just the ball and shaft, not the complete joystick.
Thanks.

They are currently being sold on Ebay, although it has to be said they are a little expensive:

same price at http://www.arcadeshop.com/parts.htm (http://www.arcadeshop.com/parts.htm).

While I can't vouch for the ones sold on arcadeshop.com, I can for the ones sold on eBay. I bought a couple of black ones a month or two ago and these things are beauties. There is no seam and they came polished and shiny. I believe he has a wide assortment of colors and can also do the 3 1/2 shaft length (for non-Robotron games). You can also opt for non-stainless steel shafts as they're less expensive.
Who knows, this may be the same guys stuff on arcadeshop.com.

These sticks are super nice. The ones in the Ebay auction are stainless steel, that's why they are so expensive. Write to him, he offers regular chrome plated sticks for about $8 a peice. This is where I ordered my orange sticks for my latest project.
Please excuse the dust on my CP

That would be Tom(n2new@aol.com)
He makes replica joysticks for Arch Rivals, Bubbles, Sinistar, Defender/StarGate, and Joust(upright and cocktail). He also makes replacements for Wico, and Happs(Ultimate/Competition/Super). And custom fabricated sticks also(in just about any color). He makes Tempest spinners too.
His info is as follows: (518)-399-7017

Does he have a web site?

FYI, I don't think these are "Robotron reproductions"....just standard wico shaft repos. Robotron sticks are actually taller than the standard stick.
-
True. Robotron shafts are 4" as opposed to the standard 3 1/2". However, the ones currently on eBay are the 4" ones. He makes both sizes.
-
Oops, guess I should have actually looked at the ebay item. ;D
-
The 4" shafts would probably be great for those who have wood panels where the joystick is just mounted to the bottom of the wood (not recessed). This would give the extra length needed so the ball is not so close to the top of the panel.
I just made the switch from microswitch sticks to leaf and I couldn't be happier. The difference is incredible. I realize that it's just a preference but I'm totally sold on leafs.

Actually his Robotron reproduction sticks are a teeny, weeny bit larger than the original Robotron sticks(which were 3-15/16" long). :-)

The shafts in my pic above are 3 1/2" shafts they are mounted in a panel that with lexan is 3/4" thick. There seems to be plenty of clearance.

That's a really nice looking panel. I'd like to see more however I'm having trouble with your website. Is there any way to skip the flash intro?
Also did you do any routing? I've got some 3.5" Wico joysticks and I don't believe they will fit a 3/4" thick panel without routing.
