They won't be ready in five to ten years, and I doubt they seriously want to mess with Texas. If it became really serious, we could hold our own just as equally or better than the Chinese. Haven't we talked about this about a month ago or so. I don't have any doubt China will be the next Hegemon, but it's gonna take a minute.

Meh, The Chinese people won't backup their psycho military. We're opressed, hungry, and poor, and you want us to fight for you?
They'd probably fight to protect an invasion, but no way they are going to go somewhere and attack.
And as far as 80% voting in favor of killing, tallies in countries with oppresive regimes are hardly worth looking at. I believe Saddam won 100% of his votes.

Well I don't know whether this guy really said these things or not (judging by the homepage this website isn't necessarily a reliable source of information), but even if he did most of it is so wacko that it's not worth taking seriously.
I lost interest after the bit about developing a biological weapon that would only kill "non-yellow" people. Even if such a weapon could be developed (which judging by what we currently know about genetics is incredibly unlikely) it would have to act so fast that the US government would not have time to deploy its nuclear weapons in retaliation.

Anyone have a decent source for this? All I'm finding are this website (that's half broken and missing - most of it's internal links don't work, and the ones that do are mainly about making money with a website and getting site hits)... Google search only turns up a few references to this, and they're just blogs referring back to this website.
Color me skeptical at this point.

Why would they need to attack? Just fly half a billion Chinese to Mexico and let them walk across the river like the Mexicans do. We can't stop unarmed, unemployed Mexicans from coming here illegally. What makes anyone think we could stop four hundred million Chinese?

M3talhead, of all the people on this board, why would someone of our own armed forces post such a piece of really really bad propaganda? I'm hoping you were just throwing out a little bone for us to chase and not putting weight into this.

That guy should look at a globe. Africa is much larger, closer to China, and less well defended.
There's not much worth defending in Africa. They'd end up conquering a continent rife with HIV, the worst malnutrition in the world, and no established infrastructure in most places. They'd also have to conquer dozens of countries rather than one or two.

Australia has wild Kangaroos... less need for extensive food supply lines. Plus there's a large pearl industry on the shores towards China. Instant monetary flow. Then consider there's like 10,000 Chinese per 1 Australian Soldier and you got some easy pickin's.

We'll be sitting on our collective front porch, sucking back a few brewskis and picking off the ones that manage to make it all the way through Texas. I'll bring my Gameboy, because I don't expect a huge crowd.

Texas isn't just a bunch of hicks. They have several major military bases. There's alot of military activity here. And there may be more Chinese than US citizens, but they're not going to be able to dump enough soldiers on Texas soil to outnumber the gun-toting populous.

When you're talking about invading the US, the only way that would happen is if those bases are already gone. Destroyed via long range bombardment. At which point, the Chinese simply send in military vehicles, identify points of strong resistance, and hit them with a cruise missle.
The people would manage to make it about as painful as it is to hold Iraq right now but they would have no chance against a real military. The days of a viable civilian resistance are long, long gone.

This post epitomizes EXACTLY why the Chinese would win. :laugh:

You guys need to check your superiority glands, they are getting a little overproductive.
We fell the great USSR not with missles, but with US beer, cigarettes, and various fast food products.
We will do the same with the China. Or they will do it to us. I fear more from them developing their vast resources into an industrial complex unrivaled in the world. Then they can stretch and just BUY us up. That would be a more effective stratagey.
After all, Al Gore was going to sell out, remember? Just this summer they bid on major US oil, they have the power.
More and more US jobs are being absorbed by China.
Plus, how you underestimate the people of the US is astounding. I guess because you are libs you think all people think the way you do.

I'm not saying there would not be a fight. I'm saying by the time they got to US soil, they would have had to have already destroyed 90% of the US Military and still be intact themselves. To be able to do that, they would have to have far more firepower than any batch of civilians could gather in the most imaginative scenario.

I was in the military. I don't think it would be that easy. The chinesee have some pretty crappy equipment, although they have a lot of it.
They deploy some bombs and the weather satelites we have will shoot them down. They couldn't launch an invasion force like that. Look how long we built up for Iraq. It was weeks of preparation. We are a pretty big land mass and we have supremacy over these waters too.
The big thing they could do is kick us economically, and they are doing that right now. Look at the trade deficits with China, it's unreal. They are buying all the oil and steel right now. They are tooling, and getting pretty good at it I hear. We've had several die casting programs go over there.
I was reading Automotive News and the big 3 are making a major push to tool up there. China is thinking of introducing a new car for the American Market next year.
They make all kinds of things now. If they continue to grow in sophistication, we will have a very hard time competeing with them. Then we'll be hurting.

Hey Fredster, I hate to burst your ultra right wing bubble, but I'm pretty damn liberal. I also live in the south and I'd blow away any member of any invasion force. Not all southerners are conservative, not all liberals are opposed to defending the country if it really were necessary. Man, I know you Republicans hate it when when the damn tree hugging liberals don't fit your pidgeon holes. ;)

That's a pretty naive point of view. Almost all US aid has strings attached and is thus not really aid at all, but payment for favours.
Anyway, if isolationism also means that the US will refrain from screwing the third words through the 'free' trade system, meddling in the affairs of other nations, and starting wars with the aim of securing a cheap supply of oil, then I think most countries would regard the loss of 'aid' as a price well worth paying.

Err, it's called charity. It's a concept you might not be familiar with.

I am intimately familiar with charity. I donate a much larger portion of my income to charity than most people I know and I am the only person I know that donates time.
There is a difference between sending off a few hundred dollars and sending off a few trillion. At some point, the line crosses from charity to wanting control over how your donated funds are used.

I totally agree with that. But when I referred to strings attached I was talking about political strings. For example the US has increased 'aid' to Pakistan because it has helped in the fight against Al-Queda. Nothing wrong with that. In fact it often makes good economic and diplomatic sense to pay other people to fight our battles instead of doing it ourselves. But what I object to is the term 'aid' which implies genuine altruism and charity. The amount of genuine aid that the US gives is minuscule.

Not really... aid implies overpayment for services rendered, a bit of help in return for something. Charity and altriusm imply charity and altruism. If it were charity, they could call it charity.

I don't see any problems with China's military. I kinda agree that they wouldn't send an Army out just to kick our ass. They don't have the drive to do that. After all, they have the largest population anywhere. I'm sure they don't need our problems, they have enough on their own.
The problem I see is they will overtake the free markets. Flood products and shut down industry in the west. That's a major concern. At my plant we have to compete with prices from China. They are infiltrating our infrastructure with economic clout.

It's the money that would kill us. That they have a lot of and lots of time to use it. Military might is just the big stick.
We owe them mucho money now. If they continue to smite us with the oil (with the saudi's help) we'll be screwed.
We need to develop better and more efficient systems in the US. The only way that will happen is with a crisis. We just don't go off and do grand and glorious things here without some kind of terrible tragety or hardship. It just doesn't happen that way.
