Have any of you done this before? I have done this several times in the last few weeks. I go to Home Depot or Lowes just to walk around and see what is on every aisle, mainly in hopes of finding something I have never seen that would apply to my arcade project. That's how I found the corner guard to use as a marquee retainer. What's even stranger is yesterday, I had an opportunity to go to Hobby Lobby (with the wife). So I just started walking around browsing. Damn, there is all kinds of usefull things there too. I found all kinds of pre-cut wooden shapes that could be used in mounting a marquee. Do any of you guys do this, or is it near the end for me?

I've done it many times...... Even before I got hooked on BYOAC I'd have other projects I'd be working on and just browse the whole store in hopes to find the one hidden thing that I didn't think of that would be perfect to use........

I think a better question would be "How many weirdos here DON'T browse the hardware store?"

I second that!

I actually look forward to when they have a stock clearance so that there is a big dump bin to rummage through. It's much more fun than just wandering around the place.

Oh hell, I just got back from browsing Home Depot about 10 minutes ago. :)
.... And oh, that was my weekly romp through the aisles, too.

I wish I could say I browsed. I always wind up buying stuff I might possibly need in 5 to 10 years. :D

That's me too. I'll buy something I've never seen before just because I think it's neat, even if I have no use for it at all.

In my world this potentially useful item typically comes from the tool section, and ticks off my wife ;)

No matter what the wives of the world would have you believe, you can never have too many tools. Never.

I don't. I don't like to shop. I go in, buy what I need, and leave.

Damn I miss Lowes.....
-
You can have one of ours. We have Home Depot AND Lowe's within 10 minutes in any direction. It's sick. No one could need that many home improvement centers.
-
One of my neighbors and I used to do a monthly trip to home depot. Just pickup what we needed, then browse until closing.
we finished off by closing the bar too ;D

I vote that Chad be banned from this thread.
Weirdo :P ;D

I have better things to do than wander around in a store, really. I hate shopping. I do as much of it as I can online.
-
Well I'm at Lowe's at least 3 days a week, so I'm pretty well versed with what they carry and where it is. Even still, unless I have to be somewhere I'll wander the tool section looking to see if there's something new I just can't do without. Last week it was a replacement for the blade retaining washer on my miter saw. Irwin has come out with one with a laser built into it to retrofit a older saws with a laser cutting guide.
-
It goes without saying, anything with a laser is worth having.

Reason #6,587,472 why I need to make another trip.

Replacement kerf, I think they are called?
