Anyone have this problem? Is there a setting I'm missing?
I've checked the Mamewah.ini and emulator.ini. I happen to be using the Nes Vids released by Circo a while ago. I have them running with sound on an older version of Mamewah, but, funny enough, the visual aspect of those videos freezes after about 10 seconds although the audio keeps playing.
Now with Mamewah 161 (not the latest beta, just the latest from Minwah's site), the videos only do the visuals with no freezing. Weird. they play just fine using Windows Media on the same computer. I definitely have the proper codec installed.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Apparently, nobody else is having this problem. I guess I'll go ahead and give the latest Mamewah beta a spin.

I've not tried the videos with the latest beta, but never had problems with videos either. I presume other sounds are working in mamewah? thats the first thing to check....

Yeah, the other sounds work fine.

Ken,
I suspect your missing a sound setting in an ini file somewhere. Especially since you say they work from within Windows using Windows Media Player. If you want to email me at the address on my website I'll send you a copy of my mamewah.ini file and an ini file for a working emulator with attract videos.

Thanks, John. I emailed you. Look for a mail from imccarthy.

By default, preview movie sound is disabled. Intro movie sound should work tho. These are the settings you need to look at (in mamewah.ini):
music_movie_mix
movie_volume
FYI the beta release will not help, I haven't touched anything related.

I will check this out post haste. Thanks Minwah.

Hey it works now. Somehow, I had overlooked the mute_movies setting on music_movie_mix, or maybe I thought it would only apply to the intro/screensaver movies globally in MameWah.
Anyway, it works. Two things, what does "pause" do in music_movie_mix (can't seem to find the explanation in the docs) and have you posted the latest beta version of MameWah on your site yet, Minwah?
Also, John, it's not a big deal if you don't see this first, but you don't need to send me those ini's anymore. Thanks again.

'pause_music' just pauses any music playing while the movie is playing back. The music starts again if you switch game or whatever.
There's been a beta available for a while, but I haven't done any coding since (there haven't been many bugs, and I haven't had much time)...

I know its an old thread but I have the same problem....
I delete the mute_movie and start mamewah, and the sound is still not playing. I go back into the mamewah.ini and its back on mute_movie
any ideas why?

For all settings in the Mamewah ini files, if the value is not recognised as valid then it gets set back to the default. In this case 'blank' is not a valid value for the music_movie_mix setting, it needs to be one of the following:
mute_movies
merge
pause_music
Try 'pause_music' and that should do it.
