Title: Convergence Tips??
Post by: lettuce on August 20, 2005, 05:02:57 am
I have a WG K7000 25" monitor, and am using the Nokia Screen test program to sort out the convergence. I am having trouble getting all the lines to line up correctly across the whole of the screen, i would get 80% of the screen lined up, but then there would be an area that wouldnt be lined up at all, and when i try and line this area up it throws the other 80% screen out!

I have noticed that you can change the colours round when press the mouse button, do i need to line up one set of colours correctly then press the mouse button to change the colours around then setup the lines again for them colours, and so on?? If anybody has some helpful tips or knows of a good guide then i would be greatful!?

The k7000 service manual which you can download from several sites like atarijeff.com shows which magnetic rings to rotate for which colors.

The best pattern you can use for convergence is the "white crosshatch" pattern. To fine tune the edges you tilt the yoke slightly one way or the other (up-down, side-to-side, etc.) with those rubber wedges. Yoke alignment affects the edges of the tube and overall red-green-blue purity.

Street Fighter 2, Stargate, and Defender have test modes with great video test patterns that include white crosshatch.
