Title: USB into gameport, is there a way?
Post by: Matthew Fisher on August 19, 2005, 02:06:10 pm
Has anyone tried to hook a usb device to a gameport using one of the adapters and a USB gender changer?  The only ones I find allow you to use the legacy devices with gameport-less computers.  I want to use a USB joystick with a DOS machine, and, although I might be able to find a DOS USB driver somewhere, I don't want to mess with the config and autoexec's now that I finally have the thing working.   :)  Thanks in advance.

As handy as that may be, its just not that simple.  Different protocols etc.
But, is saying that its not impossible.

there are commercial devices that aparantly work pritty well, but finding drivers for dos could be a challenge.

the other option is a gameport card, however i have only ever seen them in the old ISA format, but that shouldnt be a problem if your computer is abit old

Joysticks plug into the sound card.  Get an old SoundBlaster card and plug it in.
