actually this is 2 questions.......what is your opinion on the ideal spacing between buttons....and the ideal spacing between the joystick and the buttons. I'm making a 2 player cab and was just wondering what would be good for maximum comfort.
-
I like an inch and a half from center to center of each button. And I think I did roughly 3 inches from center of joystick hole to center of the first column of buttons

how about spacing between players?? (1 & 2)

i was just goign to guesstimate from the sides..just need to see what's comfortable fro that......i want to leave room for adding a trackball later

The indvidual buttons should be as close as possible.... On a real arcade machine (6 button of course) they are VERY close together. A common newb mistake i always see are button holes that are too far apart..... When the buttons are installed there should be about 1/16-1/8 space between the lips of the two buttons. And 1/8th is really pushing it.... it should be closer to 1/16th.... If you make them further apart it will still be playable, but it will "look wierd." and a neogeo span of 4 buttons is going to be hard to reach.

theres a capcom design template around here somewhere, thats a good start point, tho you might want to adjust the buttons to be a bit more modern and erogonomic. if i can find again ill post
