Cool website, thanks for the heads up...now i need to know, what exactly do i need to buy??  I'm seeing like 20 different GBA flashcard type products...which is the one i need to get to put a NES emulator plus like 50-60 games on it??  I don't care about linking up or movie players, or mp3 player cards or anything like that, i just want to put the NES emulator on it.

Sorry, i'm just a bit confused...what did you buy??

Good question. I've avoided buying one for the same reason. Too many choices, I don't know which one I want. Pretty much only want to run emus too.

I just got this one a month ago:

http://www.easybuy2000.com/store/nintendo%20accessories/x-rom512.shtml

I'm really happy with it.  I have 112 NES games and 8 GBA games on it right now.  When I get bored I can change them whenever I want.  I thought I would only play NES on it but lately I've gotten quite addicted to Advance Wars II at lunch :).  I didn't use the pre-installed Pogoshell.  I just formated the cart and dragged the games on there.  PocketNES is a great emu.  You can create a GBA game rom which includes all of the NES games and the emu all in one.  The GBA sees it as a game but when you load it, it comes up with the list of NES games contained in the rom.  Like I said, it's quite nice.

i have the ez-flash 2.  256 mb model.  I can hold a ton of nes games on it or about 2-6 GBA games depending on size.  But they are all pretty much the same, especially if you just want to run emulators.

there are two news ones coming out soon that are huge.  One comes in up to 4 Gb size, the other uses SD or CF cards.

M3 (http://www.m3adapter.com/)

G6 (http://www.gameboy-advance.net/nintendo_ds/nds-g6flash.htm)

these are more specialized to the NDS though.

Those 4gigabyte ones.. It looks like they are only for the new Nintendo portable :( whats the largest for GBA? I see some ONLY play GBA backups.. i am after one that will do Mp3, movies, GBA and emus.

Heres one says 1GB? is that Gigabyte? or Gigabit??

1 Gigabit = 128Megabytes.

If you get a 1gig GBA flashcart, you can put 128mb worth of stuff on it.

I wouldn't have thought it possible, but I am now even more confused on this issue than I was before.

It's just two different size structures.  Just realize that GBA games are named in megaBITS, so a real GBA game you buy in a store might be on a 32megaBIT cart, or a 64, or a 128.

So... when you buy a 1gigaBIT flash card, you can only fits four 128megaBIT games.... or eight 64megaBIT games.... get it?

The confusion comes from us not using megabits in normal computer use... so when you see a rom on your computer that is say 3megaBYTES, you probably assume you can fit over 300 of them on a 1gig flash card, but that isn't the case.

It's all about the conversion ;)

ok simply put:

there are (always) 8 bits in 1 byte

in a 256 megabit(256Mb) flashcart there are 32 megabytes(32MB)

divide any megabit by 8 and you'll get the megabytes

example: 4 gigabit card is equal to 4096 megabits
4096 megabits / 8 = 512 megabytes

notice the small and big b

I've had a GBA EZ-Flash II 256mbit PowerStar for a year and a half and really like it. The PocketNES emulator works well. Goomba for GB roms works as well. I usually keep PocketNES with about 10 roms, 1 or 2 ebooks in Gameboy Bookreader, 1 128Mb GBA rom, 1 64Mb GBA rom or 2 32Mb GBA roms loaded at any one time. Only on week+ trips with no PC access have I wished for more storage space. Jandaman has much lower shipping than $20+ the Hong Kong shops charge and provides quick service.

i've got a flash card and linker cable that i dont use anymore. Its kind of broken though, i had some save issues, finally opened up the cartridge to find that the battery for the save memory had broken off its spot, and tons of attempts to solder it back on were unfruitful. it still works to play games and such, you just cant save. if you'd like it, and the linker, and software, i would let you have it for $50 ( i paid almost 150 ) email me at shodough@gmail.com or AIM me, my SN is shodough66

If I was you I would get this.

http://www.winsunx.com/indexgbabackuptools.php?mod=productID_72

I would have already gotten it myself but I'm now waiting till the end of the month for DS flash carts.  This is one Megabit = 128megs which is kind of small IMHO but you can store a decent amount of GBA games on it as well and a ton of GB/C games or NES emulated games on it.

ez flash is releasing new software soon so that you can use teh ez flash carts to play nds roms...the ez3 has a flaw though so they recommend the ez2 or 4 for this.  ez4's come out later this year.
