Title: everythying's breaking
Post by: missioncontrol on August 17, 2005, 07:40:19 pm
First my mower dies........

now wife calls me while I was in class this morning says "we have no water" (we have a well)

I think no big deal just the presure switch I'll pick one up on the way home......

get home it starts pouring rain...

I replace the switch turn the breaker back on and nothing......

guess my well pump may have been hit by lightning.....

bad thing is it quit raining so now I'm covered in mud with no water (at this point I was ready to strip down and shower in the rain).....

finally found a place to clean up though........

About ten years ago when I bought my property I considered putting in a well. I found out at the last minute that rural water is available where I live so I went that route. The water tastes pretty nasty if you don't filter it first. Sometimes I question my decision to not have a well dug. Thanks for making me feel better about rural water. ;)

That's definitely a plus. however, last year I had a house fire. I discovered later that a "fire department" surcharge is added to my water bill. If I had a well, the three fire trucks who responded to the fire would have cost me several hundred dollars. So I guess I can't complain too much about my water bill, it's usually the cheapest bill I pay every month anyway.

 :D :D :D   I GOTS WATER     :D :D :D

They came by replaced the pump and said that since it was likely due to lightning I should try to claim it on my homeowners insurance..........

How much did the pump cost?  I had to replace one years ago and IIRC, it wasn't that much.  It might end up costing you more in increased premiums if you claim it.
