Title: trackball with no mouse buttons ?
Post by: Nataq on August 16, 2005, 06:13:49 pm
Ok im designing everything right now and im trying not to put too much thing on my control panel. I had planed to put in 2 mouse buttons but someone suggest me to get rid of em and I liked the idea (less button on CP is good with my design) but is it still possible if I remove them to play around in windows with the trackball (acting like a mouse with fonctional buttons) ? Like setting P1 1-2-3 buttons as mouse buttons in windows while those buttons still works like regular buttons in games ?

Im ordering the Happ 3" usb/ps2 trackball. You can have 3 mouse buttons setup on this one. Im not sure how to setup those buttons but could it be possible to double wire 3 of the P1 buttons ? Like going both to CP interface (IPAC) and mouse/happ trackball interface ?

Would appreciate if someone know a way...

The easiest way is to physically wire the two trackball buttons into two of the player buttons, instead of running those to your encoder.

Then all you have to do is set MAME to use those instead of it's default keys, and they will work perfectly.

I would recommend replacing buttons 5 & 6 in the bank of buttons, so that there is minimal impact on everything else.

good idea. That brings me to think about the interface now. I heard some interface runs in dos and that mouse is not suported there. So can I ask whats the most popular interface is ? Is there good chance I finally want to run a DOS interface ?
