Title: CP Design for 20" panel
Post by: MameJunkie on August 16, 2005, 04:45:09 pm
Which one is better? Top or Bottom.
Want 2 player controls for most classics, puzzle, shooter.

For use in my cab which is under construction.

I prefer having the controls on the top panel and if I was player 2 on your CP I would be very anoyed at the side buttons.  My $0.02.

Also why not still have the side buttons on the top design?  Only a couple bucks more for the buttons.

Its not the $$$ thats I'm worry about, with only 20" to work with, its hard to get enough spacing for everyone.  So I was thinking of doubling up the side buttons.  I know its a strange setup but I really want to support 2 players yet still giving them room to play.

If you go to the other thread, you can see pictures.

I think any variant of your top design will be fine.

My old Atari cab is only 23.5" wide, and it has enough room for a 2 player/6 button setup.

I too like the top design (which is similar to my own layout).

But I too would have 6 buttons for both player 1 and 2.  It doesn't take up that much space and some games (mostly fighters) use all six.

You may regret not adding them later.
