I was checking out the Console section of BYOAC, and read about how it's possible to wire up the analog stick of an original Dreamcast pad to a microswitch joystick so that each direction registers as a full press. I have a Quantum Fighterpad that I'd like to hack the analog stick on, but the FAQ also said that this was hard to do since the Quantum uses pots rather than hall-effect sensors like the original pads.
Does anyone one know if this hack is possible on the Quantum?
Thx,
EA

its too much hassle and i blew out my dreamcast controller port(i had a warrenty so i got a free replacement anyways) trying so dont bother(unless you are sure what you are doin).
do a madcatz pad instead(very easy).
its possible on Quantum pads(anything is possible) but no one actually explains how things go on this one(never seen any pages about dreamcast Quantum pads)

Yeah I wouldn't try it even with a valid warranty since it's pretty much impossible to find a DC these days.

Snaaake, are you talking about hacking the analog stick? Hacking everything BUT the analog stick on the Quantum should be very easy, since all the buttons have actual wires going to them (no soldering required).
If anyone has an answer for my question regarding the analog stick in particular, please let me know. (Dave_K? tom61?)

Yeah you're right, the quantum fighter pad has 7 digital buttons (start button included).
Wiring them is pretty straight forward. <-- like wiring any digital control. Test for a common ground and then wire it up.

well....i did blow out the dreamcst port :( because i was a dumba$$ before and probley a first time thing(i wasnt quite sure).
I still wouldn't try tho....look for madcatz pad dude..these are like the easiest pad ever.
and yes..i wasnt talking about analog.only digital inputs but still think its not easy(i cant even remember how the PCB looked,it was over a year ago)
