There is a tiny arcade (http://www.tokyogameaction.com) in northern RI that has like 8 of them, on flat rate play, if you want to visit some.  All of them have high end Japanese fighters in them.

whoa, never knew that place existed. I used to go to the dream machine in Chinatown, but that closed like 3 or 4 years ago already.

This place is worth a trip.  People drive hours to get there.  It is full of candy cabs and high end Bemani cabs.  It may be the best kept arcade secret in New England.

then again, how would I know the other secrets?

the real secret of RI is, "The New York System" Weeners

HOT WEINERS!

My wife and I snicker every time we drive past a sign that says that.  There was a pizza place by my house that for 6 months had a sign that said:

HOT WEINERS FREE KIDS

HOT WEINERS FREE KIDS

Yep, that's usually how it works.

Hrm, never thought about it that way.  I always saw FREE as a verb.

Want your kids freed?  HOT WEINERS!

It's pretty funny from that angle too. I was inserting  comma between "weiners" and "free".

That actually came out sounding a lot stranger than I intended. (believe it or not)

reminds me of that shirt that i had... originally said:

"Drug Free Me"

Me, being so witty, added the the S to completely change the meaning of the shirt:

"Drugs free me"

Then someone removed the S again, and made it:

Drug Free Men

In high school the Air Force used to give out bumper stickers that said "AIM HIGH". We used to tear off the 'A' and add an apostrphe with white out so they said "I'M HIGH".

WiteOut is for sniffing, not correcting.

Can't we do both?

I wouldn't, if you have the WiteOut, why bother with the sign.

I have a bottle of Liquid Paper. Will that do?

Good enough.  Now don't let your guidance counselor find out.

Bad news, there are four guidance counsellors in this building and they're all in and out of my office all day.

Chad--

I checked out tokyo game action on sunday, I must admit that place is awesome. The owner, Andy, is a really nice guy. There were a lot of kids there just hanging out, a really cool arcade operator. He said hes going to Japan next month to pick up the new guilty gear too. I will be back there in the future. How about a byoac meet up there?

TGA is only open like wed-sun, but I bet we could get them to open up on like a Monday night if we could guarantee him enough attendees.

It's not really a BYOAC type place, though.  Awesome little arcade on a great flat rate, but no classics at all.  Seph would have a hardon the whole time, but other than that, eh...

Which is popn?  Is that the one where you're waving your arms through an IR field, or the one with all the buttons?

its the round half-globe type buttons. They have it, and some kids there were really nuts at it. Never tried it myself though.

That's half the reason I don't go in there much.  It's always full of kids, half the games you would have no prayer of getting at, especially if you're not able to play at as high a level as they are.

Sorry to hijack the therad a little bit, but has popnmusic been MAME'd yet, or has it even been dumped yet?

I hope not, it's still a viable op game.

although, i have seen threads for byo popnmusic controls. If i am correct that was designed for the console version. Although, i know there is a pc clone of DDR, maybe there is one for popnmusic? somone else probably knows more.

Chad - yea, i am not into music games, but i see your point

there is no MAME of popn music, at least publicly released. and the newer bemani hardware is heavily encoded and protected i doubt it will ever be ripped. as far as a home setup ive basicly made my own arcade machine using an import PS2 and imported PopN games. Built a home made controller using a hacked PS controller and wico dome buttons, hooked it up to my MAME machine, and i just pull my controller in front of it on a keyboard stand when i wanna play
